An Important Message to One and All in the TP House League Baseball Program
SPRING TRAINING ON THE HORIZON! ONLY 33 DAYS TO GO BEFORE OPENING DAY!
Dear Parents and Players
The purpose of this message is to update you regarding the preparations for our 2010 TP House League Baseball season and when you should expect to hear from us. I've attached the Toronto Playgrounds Houseleague Baseball 2010 Division Schedule so that you can remind yourselves of the days and times that your child's (or children's) division(s) play and practice. It is important to note that during the pre-season, while we will do our best to stick to the days listed on the division schedule, you may have some practices on days that you won't have during the regular season. This happens because we want to give each team at least 3 practices before the regular season starts. Our 2010 regular season begins on Tuesday, May 25th ( the day after the Victoria Day holiday weekend).
The Regular Season schedules will be completed and sent to you and posted on the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball website by Monday, May 17th at the latest.
Our uniform pick-up days are scheduled for Tuesday, May 18th; Wednesday, May 19th and Thursday, May 20th in the Alex Duff Building, which is the building in Christie Pits attached to the outdoor pool. We'll be confirming the times for you by May 14th.
The Tee Ball teams will be put together by Monday, May 3rd, and you'll be contacted by May 5th with the date and time of your first practice along with the name of your team and the coach. Practices will start the week of May 10th and will take place at the tee ball diamond at the north end of Bickford Park. We will try to schedule each team for three pre-season practices, realizing that not everyone will necessarily be able to make it out to each one.
For the Rookie Ball, Mosquito, Peewee, and Bantam divisions we will hold evaluation sessions before making the teams. We do this so that we can make the teams as balanced as possible. The evaluation sessions for the rookie ball, mosquito, and peewee players will take place on Saturday, May 1st and Sunday, May 2nd (don't worry, each player will only have to come out on one of the two days!). You will be contacted by Tuesday, April 27th and told which day and time we'd like your son or daughter to come out. The evaluations will take place at Christie Pits, and we'll meet in the outfield between diamonds 2 and 3 (beside the outdoor pool). The Rookie Ball, Mosquito, and Peewee teams will be put together by Tuesday, May 4th, and you'll be contacted by May 6th with the date, time, and location of your first practice along with the name of your team and the coach. Practices will start on Saturday, May 8th, and we will try to schedule each team for three pre-season practices, realizing that not everyone will necessarily be able to make it out to each one.
For the Bantam players, evaluations will take place the morning of Saturday, May 8th at Christie Pits diamond #1. You'll be contacted by May 4th and told the time that we'd like you to come out on the 8th. Teams will be put together on May 8th and you'll be contacted on May 9th with the date, time, and location of your first practice along with the name of your team and coach. Practices will begin on Monday, May 10th at 6:00 pm.
At this point, I'd like to thank you for deciding to join our TP House League Baseball program for the 2010 season, and we hope that it's a great experience for you and your child (children). The TP Baseball Committee and I will do everything we can to try to make sure that everyone enjoys playing ball in 2010!!

2009 TP House League Baseball Awards Presentation
A SPLENDID TIME WAS HAD BY ALL AT MEETING TO KICKOFF THE 2010 SEASON
Before a standing room only crowd at the Alex Duff Building at Christie Pits, the Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Committee presented its 2009 awards for excellence at a special general meeting to kickoff the 2010 season.
The TP Committee presents awards annually to people who embody the spirit and principles of our house league baseball program. Players, Coaches, Umpires and Parents who go beyond the call of duty and volunteer their energy and time to make our baseball program the wonderful experience that it is.
The recipients of our 2009 awards of excellence are:
2009 FEMALE PARTICIPANT OF THE YEAR: Amanda Coelho
Amanda has been a very enthusiastic player in our TP House League Baseball program for many seasons who has also found the extra time and energy to umpire our house league games.
2009 MALE PARTICIPANTS OF THE YEAR: Wesley Chu and Wyatt Fine-Gagne
Not only do Wesley and Wyatt continue to be great players in our house league baseball program, but they both have also found the stamina, patience and resources to coach and umpire games in our league.
2009 VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR: Laurie McPhee
Laurie is the embodiment of what makes our house league baseball program the great creature that it is. His DNA is simply spelled v-o-l-u-n-t-e-e-r. No matter what was asked all these years, Laurie is always there to help out (coaching, moving equipment, etc.).
The TP Baseball Committee expresses its sincerest congratulations to our worthy 2009 awards winners.
Amidst the endless brownies, cookies, muffins, snacks and refreshments that were served, it goes without saying that a splendid time was had by all in attendance. Our many thanks to all the people who made it out to our celebration day to kick start the 2010 TP House League Baseball season.
