IT’S OPENING DAY OF THE 2010 TP HOUSE LEAGUE BASEBALL SEASON!
TEAMS IN OUR TEE BALL AND PEEWEE DIVISIONS KICKOFF OUR REGULAR SEASON
It's Opening Day of another TP House League Baseball Season!
There's always excitement in the air about opening day on the baseball diamond. The start of another season is always reflective of our very own human existence. A sense of hope, renewal and wonder. A rite of passage as we see the players grow and develop. A sense of reflection in parents of days gone by and days to come. Green grass. Blue skies. Such is the beauty of the field of dreams.
Our teams in the Tee Ball and Peewee Divisions will inaugurate the beginning of our 2010 TP House League Baseball Season today. We hope that you will come down to the diamonds at Christie Pits and Bickford Park to celebrate the start of another wonderful baseball season.
A friendly reminder to players and parents in the Tee Ball, Rookie Ball, Mosquito, Peewee and Bantam Divisions who did not pick up their uniforms at our two scheduled uniform distribution days held last week: please be advised that the TP Baseball Committee has scheduled another uniform distribution day for today (Tuesday, May 25) at the Alex Duff Building at Christie Pits. The distribution time is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Also, our 2010 regular season division schedules have been posted in a PDF format for you to print out. You can access the schedules by clicking on our SCHEDULES tab just beneath our masthead at the top of our website. There's also some postings below with links to the your desired regular season division schedules.
The TP Baseball Committee thanks you for your support. See you on the field of dreams.
Between The Lines
Between The Lines is a new posting that will be published throughout the 2010 TP House League Baseball season that will feature news bits about our baseball program.
WOODEN BROOMSTICKS NEEDED
The TP Baseball Committee is in dire need of old wooden broomsticks.
Our coaches use broomsticks in our wiffleball training program which assists players to develop better hand and eye coordination in hitting the baseball. We saw off the broom and use the old broom handle as a batting stick.
We kindly ask all parents and players to check their homes or apartments for any old wooden brooms that they no longer need. Just bring them to the park on any game or practice day and we'll be happy to take them off your hands.
All donations are greatly appreciated.
WANT AD: THERE'S NO LIFE LIKE IT! SCOREKEEPERS NEEDED!
One the most overlooked aspects of our house league baseball program is the need for volunteers to take the time to scorekeep during our games. The scorekeepers role is integral since you really can't play without someone keeping tabs on the runs, outs and batting orders of both teams. In tandem with the umpires, the scorekeeper keeps the game flowing in an orderly and controlled manner. By scorekeeping, you'll also develop a better understanding of the nuances and beauty of a baseball game.
The TP Baseball Committee is looking for parents in our Mosquito, Peewee, Bantam and Midget Divisions who are eager to learn the art of scorekeeping. Since the strength of of our TP Baseball Program is our volunteers, it's a wonderful opportunity for you to help out during games throughout the season.
Scorekeeping is relatively easy. Interested parents will be duly trained at the ballpark by someone from the TP Baseball Committee at a time that is convenient to them.
If you are interested in scorekeeping, please email us at tpbaseball@gmail.com
NEW EQUIPMENT FOR THE 2010 TP HOUSE LEAGUE BASEBALL SEASON ROLLS OUT
As the 2010 TP House League Baseball season begins, players, parents and coaches will notice that we've made another sizable reinvestment in new equipment that will allow players to perform better and more safely.
The Bantam and Midget Divisions are the beneficiaries of new batting helmets, bats and catcher's masks. Players in the Mosquito and Peewee Divisions will notice new batting helmets and catcher's masks. All divisions will also see new equipment bags that will make it easier for us to store the equipment and get it to and from the baseball diamonds as quickly as possible.
The TP Baseball Committee would like to thank the parents and players who support our wonderful baseball program. Without your commitment, these equipment upgrades would not be possible.
When you're at a game or practice, just look for the TP logo.
