TP Spring Training Practices Mosey Along Like A Gentle Spring Breeze
PRACTICES IN ALL DIVISIONS ARE WELL ATTENDED. ONLY 6 DAYS TO GO BEFORE THE 2010 TP HOUSE LEAGUE BASEBALL SEASON OPENS.
Despite the cool, windy and wet weather we've been experiencing since Spring Training started the previous Saturday, the preseason workouts and practices in the TP House League Baseball program have been well attended with enthusiastic players, parents and coaches from all divisions.
Unfortunately, two scheduled spring training practice days were cancelled due to rain. The TP Committee will attempt to reschedule some of those cancelled practices. However, with only 6 days to go before the regular season starts, it's looking more cumbersome to do so because of baseball diamond availability at this point in time.
The spring training workouts will continue until the regular season starts on Tuesday, May 25.
With only 6 days before the opening of the 2010 season, the TP House League Baseball Committee strongly encourages players and parents to attend their respective spring training sessions. It's a wonderful opportunity for players to work on the baseball fundamentals and get in shape for the long season ahead. The workouts will also allow players and parents to get to know their coaches and other players and parents. The social interaction of spring training promotes new friendships, fun, good sportsmanship and team chemistry.

In the event of uncertain weather on the day of your practice, players and parents are encouraged to check the TP Weather Hotline (416-392-1914, Press 4) or the TP Baseball Website (www.torontoplaygrounds.ca) for updates on whether your scheduled practice will proceed or be cancelled. Updates will be posted about 45 minutes to one hour before your scheduled workout.
And as a friendly reminder, please note that our TP Baseball Uniform pick-up days are scheduled for Tuesday, May 18; Wednesday, May 19 and Thursday, May 20 in the Alex Duff Building, which is the building in Christie Pits attached to the outdoor pool. We'll be confirming the distribution times for you by May 14.
Additionally, regular season schedules for all divisions in the TP House League Baseball program will be issued by May 17. Regular season schedules will be distributed during our uniform pick-up days. Also, all divisional schedules will be posted on the TP Baseball website.

JUST YOU SARAH AND TOM GO TO BAT FOR TP BASEBALL
As many frequent visitors to our Toronto Playgrounds Baseball website have noticed over the past few months, the site has been undergoing a bit of fine tuning to make it more user friendly and relevant to the needs of players, parents and coaches in the TP House League Baseball Family. Our goal is to make the TP Baseball website a destination of choice to satisfy your thirst for information regarding our house league baseball program.
Part of the evolution of the website has been the addition of pictures to our postings. Pictures help add colour, context and vibrancy to the articles we post.
In that regard, we would like to thank Sarah Milberry and Tom Yun for supplying the stuffed toys that have graced our website so far this season. Sarah and Tom are the proprietors who own the Just You Sarah & Tom Gift and Toy Shop located at 632 Bloor Street West (416) 535-4619. Both of them are enthusiastic supporters of TP Baseball.
The feedback for the improvements to our TP baseball website has been extremely positive. We thank you for taking the time to check us out. We also thank you for your patience as we experiment to improve the website. As the old adage goes, sometimes it's a hit and sometimes it's a miss.

Dominico Field Ceremony Scheduled for Sunday, May 9
CHRISTIE PITS DIAMOND # 1 TO BE RENAMED TO HONOUR JACK AND LYNNE DOMINICO
A special ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow to rename Christie Pits Diamond # 1 in honour of the Dominico's contributions to the City of Toronto and the community that surrounds it.
The Dominico Field at Christie Pits ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. (Sunday, May 9) before the scheduled Intercounty Baseball League game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Guelph Royals. (Diamond # 1/Dominico Field is located in the northeast corner of Christie Pits.)
Jack and Lynne Dominico's ownership of the Intercounty Baseball League Toronto Maple Leafs for the past 40 years and their presence at Christie Pits has contributed to the growth of a vibrant neighbourhood and a beautiful park. (Lynne passed away in 2008.)
It goes without saying that Jack Dominico has always given the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Program immense support for many years in the realm of youth baseball.
The TP Baseball Committee strongly encourages as many players, parents and coaches of the TP House League Family to show up at Sunday's ceremony and game to honour the Dominico's generous contributions to not only the game of baseball itself but also to life in the Christie Pits community as well.
See you there.
