Peewee Tuesdays: Red Sox Edge Jays 10-9
BEANTOWNERS RALLY TO USURP BLUEBIRDS

With the bases loaded and two outs, Caleb (15) of the Red Sox drew a walk to bring in the winning run.
In a see saw battle royale, the Red Sox rallied for two runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning to usurp the Jays 10-9 today at Diamond # 2.
With the bases loaded and two outs, Caleb (15) of the Red Sox worked the count to draw a walk which brought Ben (5) home with the winning run.
With the Jays leading 9-8 heading into the final inning, Tyler (10) of the Red Sox drew a walk and he eventually came in to score the tying run. The Red Sox proceeded to load the bases and with two outs came Caleb's winning at bat.
Kudos to Mikel (9) of the Red Sox who cooled down the Jays potent offense in the top of the fourth inning by striking out one and allowing no runs. His pitching effort (and a stellar double play by his defense) kept it a one run game and allowed the Red Sox to eventually rally for the win. A special kudos to Ben (5) of the Red Sox for not only his one run pitching effort in the first inning but also his stylized bellyflop slide at home which scored the Red Sox first run of the game.

Peewee Tuesdays: Lizzies Trump Yankees 9-5
LIZZES PITCHING STAFF STIFLES BRONX BOMBERS OFFENSE

Sammy (12) of the Lizzies sets the tempo for the game by pitching a 1-2-3 inning versus the Yankees.
The Lizzies used a strong pitching staff to dictate the tempo of the game and emerged with a 9-5 victory over the Yankees in three and a half innings of play at Diamond # 3 today.
Using four pitchers, the Lizzies were able to limit the vaunted Yankees offense to just five runs over four innings of play. The Lizzies pitchers were effective in not giving up too many big innings to the Bronx Bombers by allowing only one four run inning. This allowed the Lizzies batters to make the most of their offensive opportunities to build up a 9-4 lead heading into the final inning. It was lead they would not relinquish.
Kudos to Sammy (12) of the Lizzies who pitched a stellar 1-2-3 first inning and Cooper (13) who effectively closed the door to any Yankees comeback in the final (fourth) inning.

The times and order of teams will be the same as listed on the schedule:
5:45 - Giants

6:45 - Cubs
The scheduled Mosquito teams will go with the infield first half hour and outfield second half hour format.
Let’s All Celebrate and Have A Good Time!!!
TEE BALL AND ROOKIE BALL DIVISIONS END 2010 SEASON WITH A CELEBRATION DAY PARTY TO REMEMBER.
The Tee Ball and Rookie Ball Divisions held a Celebration Day to remember today at Bickford Park which brought their respective 2010 baseball seasons to a rousing conclusion.
Despite the presence of ominous overcast skies above, Mother Nature cooperated by not allowing any rain to fall until after the Celebration Day proceedings had concluded on both diamonds.
On the Bickford North Diamond , the Eagles, Falcons, Hawks, Loons, Owls and Ravens played joyous and spirited Tee Ball that reaffirmed the adage that birds of a feather play great baseball together. The Tee Ball players were wonderful to behold and brought a smile to everyone in attendance.
The Bobcats, Cheetahs, Jaguars, Lions, Panthers and Tigers put on a cat scratch fever performance at the Bickford South Diamond to bring their respective 2010 Rookie Ball Division to a close. The offensive fireworks brought the crowd to their feet in celebration.
All the Tee Ball and Rookie Ball players who participated in the Celebration Day festivities were given a gorgeous TP trophy and a free lunch. Parents, family and friends in attendance were all smiles as they captured their children in action with their cameras in hand for the digital scapbook. It those Kodachrome and Polaroid moments that one remembers and cherishes forever.
And, if you were curious at all, out TP Official Scorekeeper said that ALL three Tee Ball Celebration Day games and ALL three Rookie Ball Celebration Day games ended in a TIE. A fitting end to a great season.
It's always sad to see the end of another baseball season. But such is the rite of passage and life itself.
The wonderful memories will always remain.
The TP Baseball Committee would like to thank all the Tee Ball and Rookie Ball coaches who volunteered their valuable time to make it all possible; the parents who had the faith in our Tee Ball and Rookie Ball baseball programs to register their children and support them all season long; the volunteers who umpired the games and TP Baseball Committee members and volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make it all possible.
But most of all, we thank all the players who participated in our Tee Ball and Rookie Ball baseball programs. Without your joy, energy, exuberance and determination on the diamond, we wouldn't be able to play baseball so majestically and happily.
We hope to see all of you back for the 2011 Season!
TP NEWS: 2011 TP ‘REP’ Tryouts and Workouts To Begin in Early September
The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association will be fielding 'Rep' teams at all ages for the 2011 season.
As a TP Baseball House League player/parent, you are invited to consider trying out for a "rep" team in your age category. You should consider this option if you wish to spend more time playing baseball and playing in a more competitive setting. The "rep" program is operated by volunteers and is completely self supporting. Thus, it requires a registration fee. Our 2011 fee will be posted shortly. Players will not be refused for financial reasons.
All rep parents will be expected to see that their child attends all practices and games and volunteer in some meaningful capacity on an ongoing basis. Time requirements will include 3 to 4 games and/or practices per week once the outdoor game/practice season starts. Some teams will practice indoors once/or more per week during the winter. Team selections will be made based on the attitude and commitment of players and parents as well as player skill.
This is not just an opportunity for boys. Girls and women are also welcome to try out too. In addition, there is an all girls opportunity in three age categories - 13 and under, 16 and under and 17 and older.
Fall Tryouts and workouts for the 2011 TP Rep teams will commence in early September. Contact information for each team will be posted shortly.
If you would like some more general information or have any questions concerning the 'Rep' Program, please contact Mitch Bernard at mitchellbernard@symaptico.ca .
