Mosquito Day 8: Cardinals defeat Giants 7-4 in a thriller!
CARDS WIN SEMI-FINAL GAME AND ADVANCE TO THE TP MOSQUITO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AGAINST THE CUBS; CARDINAL PLAYER HITS DRAMATIC THREE-RUN HOMER

Davey (5) of the Cardinals hit a three-run homer in the top of the first inning powering the Cardinals to a 7-4 Mosquito semi-final win over the Giants.
The Cardinals-Giants game was a well played affair by both teams as the game moved along at a brisk pace. In fact, three and half innings were completed only 55 minutes after the 6:00 p.m. start time.
Runs were at a premium in a game where pitching and defense dominated. The Cardinals led the Giants 3-2 after the first inning and the score remained that way until the bottom of the fourth when the Giants cashed in on some offensive opportunities to pull ahead 4-3.
However, the Cardinals dramatically rallied with four runs in the top half of the fifth to go ahead 7-4. It was lead the Cards would not surrender as Davey (5) closed the door on any Giants comeback by pitching a 1-2-3 bottom of the fifth.
Kudos to Davey (5) of the Cardinals for his dramatic three-run homer in the top half of the first inning. His home run over the left centrefield fence not only staked the Cardinals to 3-0 lead, but it also charged up and inspired his teammates in the dugout. In the end, the Cardinals victory was a total team effort.
Davey's home run was also the fourth homer hit at Diamond # 2 during the 2010 TP Tournament.
The Cardinals and Cubs will play in the TP Mosquito Championship Game on Thursday, September 16 at Diamond # 2 (6:00 p.m.)

Jesse (1) of the Cubs pitched two stellar innings by allowing only two runs and striking out five Pirates.
The Cubs defeated the Pirates 9-6 in a Mosquito Semi-Final game tonight at Diamond # 2 to advance to the TP Mosquito Championship Game.
The superb Cubs pitching staff held a pesky and stubborn lineup of Pirates to only six runs over five innings while striking out eleven Pirates batters. The Cubbies offense made the most of their opportunities to build a 9-5 lead after four innings. It was a lead they would not relinquish.
The Cubs advance to the Mosquito Championship Game scheduled for Thursday, September 16 (6:00 p.m./Diamond # 2). The Cubbies await the winner of the Giants-Cardinals semi-final game which is scheduled for tomorrow evening (Tuesday, September 14) at Diamond # 2 (6:00 p.m.).
DAY SEVEN: Whew! There’s only four games left in the 2010 TP Tournament!
'SEPTEMBER MADNESS' CONTINUES TODAY WITH THE MOSQUITO DIVISION SEMI-FINAL GAME BETWEEN THE CUBS AND PIRATES
It was looking dire late Saturday night as the rain was pouring down on the baseball diamonds at Christie Pits, but Mother Nature worked her magic and allowed us to play all twelve of our scheduled TP Tournament games on Sunday underneath beautiful blue skies.
Sunday was also the beginning of the championship playoff phase of the tournament. Some teams won their playoff games to advance further in the tourney wheras some teams lost and were eliminated. But it is also part of the commiserate lessons of life.....you can't win all the time and nothing is guaranteed (especially on the field of play or life itself). However, we are all winners for participating and socializing not only on the diamond but in our everyday existence.
We've sucessfully played forty-one tournament games within a six day span. That's a lot of baseball...but it's part and parcel of the exhilaration of September Madness.
The TP Baseball Comittee wishes to thank all the parents and players who volunteered during the tournament to help us at the barbecue, coach, scorekeep, umpire, PA announcing, move equipment...etc. The success of the TP Baseball program is based on its voulnteers who go the extra mile to make it the wonderful experience that it is not only during the tourney but all season long.
The tournament continues with tonight's first scheduled Mosquito Division Semi-Final Game at 6 p.m. between the Cubs (1) and Pirates (4) at Diamond # 2.
There's only 4 more games left in the 2010 TP baseball season. We hope to see you down at Christie Pits to surf the wave as 'September Madness' winds down.
Bantam Day 6: White Sox win Bantam Crown in a 12-7 victory over the A’s
IT'S A 'TWOPEAT' AS THE WHITE SOX WIN THE BANTAM DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW
The White Sox defeated the A's 12-7 tonight at Dominico Field at Christie Pits to win their second straight TP Bantam Division Championship in a row.
The reigning 2009 Bantam Division champions managed a rare "twopeat" under the astute guidance of White Sox Head Coach Alex Beauvais and Assistant Coach Chris Novielli.
However, the White Sox had to earn their crown as the A's battled them tooth and nail for four straight innings. Eventually, by the fifth inning, the White Sox put the pedal to the metal and pulled away from the A's for the win.

Peewee Day 6: Jays and Red Sox advance to Peewee Division Championship Game
THE BLUEBIRDS AND BEANTOWNERS ADVANCE AFTER EXCITING SEMI-FINAL VICTORIES

Cameron (7) of the Jays pitched two solid innings allowing only two runs and striking out three Lizzies.
The Peewee Division Championship Round kicked off today with two exciting semi-final games on Diamond # 2.
In the morning semi-final, the Jays (4) made the most of their opportunities to trump the Lizzies (1) 11-8. The Jays pitching brigade held the Lizzies potent offensive machine in check as the Bluebirds batters punched across eleven runs in the final three innings for the victory.
The Red Sox (2) edged the Yankees (3) 8-6 in the afternoon semi-final game. The Red Sox pitchers neutralized the Bronx Bombers batters in early portion of the game as the Beantowners were able to build up an 8-3 lead after three innings of play. Despite a late charge by the scrappy Yankees, the Red Sox hung on for the win.
Kudos to Ugo (14) of the Yankees who hit a two-run homer over the left field fence in the top of the first inning. It was the third home run hit at Diamond # 2 during the tournament.
