ROYALS CROWN ORIOLES 10-2; LIZZIES AND RED SOX PLAY TO A 10-10 DRAW

FIVE BY FIVE Left to Right: Sam (5) of the Jays and Jacob (5) of the Yankees respectively pitched a scoreless second inning.

In a riveting finish, the Yankees withstood a furious Jays comeback to win 10-8 in four innings of Peewee Division play at Christie Pits Diamond # 3 this evening.

Morgan (3) of the Jays went 3 for 3 at the plate with 3 runs scored and six stolen bases.

With the score knotted at 6-6 after three innings, the Yankees pumped across four runs in the top of the fourth to take a 10-6 lead. Sparking the Bronx Bombers was a one out double by Jacob (5). After a walk to Michael (3), the Yankees cobbled together three consecutive singles hit respectively by Cameron (10), Matt (13) and Mark (11) to put four on the scoreboard.

However, the Jays refused to raise the white flag and staged a tenacious rally attempt in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Morgan (3) hit a single and Victor (1) walked. Eventually, Morgan scored on a double steal and Victor came home on a throwing error to cut the deficit to two runs.

The Jays proceeded to load the bases on a hit batsman, walk and a single.

After being roughed up and with the game on the line, Cameron (10) of the Yankees dug deep into his reserves to close out the victory by striking out the final Jays batter.

Kudos to the respective ‘Number Fives’ on the Yankees and Jays.

Jacob (5) of the Yankees  pitched a scoreless 1-2-3 inning in the second (1 IP; 0 ER; 0 H; 0 W; 1 K) and also went 2 for 2 at the dish with two doubles (2 AB; 3 R; 2 H; 1 RBI).
