PEEWEE > Day 2: Royals Defeat Yankees 13-11 In A Titanic Battle

THE ROYALS WIN A THRILLER OF A ROUND ROBIN GAME OVER THE BRONX BOMBERS

Carlos (12) of the Royals delivered a powerful shot to centre field in the bottom of the fourth inning to bring in the winning run.

In a thrilling tooth and nail round robin showdown between two evenly matched Peewee Division teams last night on Diamond # 2, the Royals defeated the Yankees 13-11 in 4 ½ innings.

Both teams played with great tenacity and passion as the lead changed hands several times during the course of the game.

With the Royals leading 9-8 after three innings, the Yankees stormed back in the top of the fourth with three runs to take an 11-9 lead. Keying the Yankees offensive outburst was a two run double by Jack (1) which brought Malcolm (14) and Matthew (15) home.

However, the never say die Royals answered right back in their half of the fourth as they scored four to take a 13-11 lead.

Kieran (11) and Dylan (10) singled to lead off the inning and both eventually came around to score and tie the game. Jamie (2) drew a walk and got to third on a stolen base and an error. It was at this juncture that Carlos (12) hit a powerful shot into centrefield that brought Jamie home with the winning run.

Carlos was thrown out as he tried to advance to third on a single by David (8). However, David eventually came around to score an insurance run which gave the Royals a two run cushion.

With some great defense behind him, David (8) of the Royals (1 IP; o ER; 0 H; 0 W; 1 K) closed out the game in the top of the fifth by retiring the Yankees in order 1-2-3.
