TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS BUILDS AN EARLY AND DOUSES FURIOUS ROYAL YORK RALLY ATTEMPT FOR THE WIN

In a thriller at Queensway Park this evening, the Toronto Playgrounds Peewee Select team extinguished a furious Royal York 3 comeback attempt to win 10-9 in five innings of play.

The Peewee Selects made the most of their opportunities in winning their second game of the EBA Regular Season. Using a combination of good pitching and defense along with a disciplined approach at the plate, Toronto Playgrounds was able to construct a 10-4 lead after 4 ½ innings.

In the end, the Peewee Selects needed every run that they fought tooth and nail to earn on the field of play to win the game. Royal York 3 refused to wave the white flag of surrender as they mounted a tenacious rally in the bottom of the fifth by scoring five runs to trim the deficit to one.

However, Pitcher Davey “The Destroyer” (16) of the Peewee Selects icily closed out the game by stranding Royal York 3 ‘s potential tying and winning runs at third and second.

Toronto Playgrounds received some stellar pitching from Simon (1) [2 IP; 0 ER; 4 K] and Keegan (17) [2 IP; 1 ER; 3 K].

In a euphoric postgame media scrum, TP Peewee Select Head Coach Rob Ball said, “The boys played very well again and seem to be on their way to a very succeessful season.”
