Underneath on and off drizzly skies, the Jays fended off a tenacious rally attempt and edged the Lizzies in 8-7 in 3 ½ innings of Peewee Division play at Christie Pits Diamond 2 this evening.

With the Lizzies leading 5-4 after the 1 ½ innings, the Jays made the most of the opportunities presented to them in the bottom of the second as they parlayed five walks into three runs to surge ahead 7-5.

In the top of the third, the Lizzies scored one run to trail 7-6.

However, in the bottom of the third, the Jays punched across another insurance run to give them a 8-6 lead heading into the final inning.

Refusing to wave the white flag of surrender, the tenacious Lizzies began a comeback attempt in the top of the fourth. Dylan (14) drew a walk and promptly stole second and third. With one out, Marcus (9) delivered a clutch run scoring double that trimmed the deficit to one.

With the tying run at third and one out, things were looking precarious for the Jays. Although shaken but not stirred, Jays closer Reid (13) regained his composure and icily struck out the next two Lizzies to seal the deal.

In the Peewee Division Nightcap under the lights at Diamond 2, the Orioles topped the Royals 5-3 in five innings of play.

Highlights included a super effort by Davey of the Royals who pitched two scoreless innings. Davey also hit two triples during the game. Kudos to Roberto of the Royals for making two stellar defensive plays during the game.
