WITH THE END OF THE SEASON ONLY A FEW DAYS AWAY, PARENTS AND PLAYERS ARE REMINDED OF SOME MINOR SCHEDULING CHANGES MADE FOR OUR CELEBRATION DAY EVENTS ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 18
The Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Celebration Day to wrap up the 2012 season for players in our Tee Ball and Rookie Ball Divisions is just a few days away.
Parents and players are reminded that the TP Baseball Committee has been forced to make some slight changes to the Tee Ball & Rookie Ball Celebration Day game schedule.
The Celebration Day events will still take place at Christie Pits on the morning of Saturday, August 18. However, we have changed the order of some games and switched a few games from Diamond 2 to Diamond 3.
This scheduling change has been done because our Toronto Playgrounds Rookie Ball Select team’s playoff tournament begins on the afternoon of Saturday, August 18 in Etobicoke. The schedule revision will allow the players and coaches (who are doing double duty for us between the house league and the select program) to leave Christie Pits in good time to play in the tournament.
Again, the changes are slight, and we apologize for any inconvenience that these changes may cause. Here is the revised schedule:

Tee Ball Celebration Day Schedule
- Christie Pits Diamond # 3: 10:15 a.m. > Loons @ Falcons
- Christie Pits Diamond # 3: 11:15 a.m. > Eagles @ Hawks
- Christie Pits Diamond # 2: 11:30 a.m. > Cranes @ Owls
- Christie Pits Diamond # 3: 12:15 p.m. > Ravens @ Herons
Rookie Ball Celebration Day Schedule
- Christie Pits Diamond # 2: 8:45 a.m. > Lions @ Jaguars
- Christie Pits Diamond # 3: 8:45 a.m. > Tigers at Cheetahs
- Christie Pits Diamond # 2: 10:00 a.m. > Bobcats @ Panthers
As always, there will be a barbecue taking place on Celebration Day. All players and coaches will receive a free lunch consisting of a hot dog (meat or veggie), a bag of chips or nachos, and a juice box. Food and drinks will also be on sale for the general public. Trophies will be handed out that day, along with any photos that haven’t already been collected.
The TP Baseball Committee will be looking for eager volunteers to help out with the preparation and distribution of the food from the barbecue.
There will be three shifts… 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon; and 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. If you’re available and interested in helping during one of those times please let me know via email at tpbaseball@gmail.com .
Also, if there are any parents who live close to Christie Pits, and have a barbecue available that you could kindly loan to us for the Celebration Day event until 1:00 p.m., please let us know.
