Under the lights this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2, the Lizzies defeated the Jays 11-7 in 4 ½ innings of Peewee nightcap action.

Here are the highlights:

  • With the Lizzies short both players (only five) and catchers (only one with a cup), Evan (12) of the Cardinals was called up from the Mosquito Division was called up and pressed into action. Evan caught three solid innings in his Peewee debut. Evan also had two hits (single and triple).
  • With a short bench, the Lizzies only had two regular pitchers on the roster for the game. By the fifth inning, both of them had each pitched the maximum two innings. As a result, one of the three remaining Lizzies was invited to take the mound in the final inning. Jozeph (1) gamely answered the call from Lizzies Head Coach Ted Sharp to protect a seven run lead. Jozeph pitched admirably in sealing the deal by allowing only three runs by the Jays.
