PEEWEE > DAY 4: Royals Edge Jays 6-5

THE ROYALS RALLY IN DRAMATIC FASHION IN THE FOURTH FOR SECOND ROUND ROBIN WIN

Game Report composed with files from Matt Byrnes and Paul Kelly

Beneath overcast skies this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2, the Royals edged the Jays 6-5 in a 4 ½ inning thriller to win their second Peewee Division Round Robin game of the tournament.

Down 5-4, the Royals rallied for two dramatic runs in the bottom of the fourth. Davey (5) drew a walk and proceeded to steal second and third. On an ensuing wild pitch, Davey motored home and beat a very close play at the plate to score the tying run.

Beca (6) followed with a walk and proceeded to steal second. However, the Jays catcher committed an error when he threw the ball into centre field in an attempt to catch her stealing, and this allowed Beca to zoom all the way home and score the winning run.

Here are some additional highlights:

  • Royals starting pitcher Victor (11) threw two scoreless innings.
  • Royals relievers Evan (12) & Eamonn (3) were effective in relief.
  • Davey (5) of the Royals came in to save the game in the top of the fifth.
  • Patrick (4) of the Royals had a RBI in third with a single up the middle.
