THE GO GO LIZZIES RALLY FOR TWO RUNS IN THE FINAL INNING TO USURP THE RED MACHINE IN AN EDGE OF YOUR SEAT THRILLER AT CHRISTIE PITS

With the game tied 9-9 and exercising great discipline at the plate, Fatima (14) worked the count in her favour to draw a bases loaded RBI walk in the bottom of the third inning to bring Luke (5) home from third with the Lizzies winning run over the Reds at Christie Pits.

RED LETTER DAY > Tillie had three hits for the Reds and also pitched two strong innings against the Lizzies. Tillie also spearheaded the Big Red Machine’s offensive surge in the third with 2 RBI’s.

Under warm and wondrous summer skies this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2, the Lizzies edged the Reds 10-9 in an exciting three inning Mosquito Division seesaw battle royale.

In a hard fought and well contested game between two well balanced and talented squads, the Reds rallied with resolve in the top of the third to take a one run lead over the Lizzies.

However, the Go Go Lizzies refused to surrender easily and regrouped to stage a ferocious comeback. Trailing 9-8, the Lizzies rallied in grand fashion by scoring two runs in the bottom of the third to usurp the Big Red Machine and claim the treasure of sweet victory.

Capping the Lizzies comeback was Fatima’s (14) bases loaded RBI walk that allowed Luke (5) to saunter home with the winning run.

Here are the Reds highlights:

  • Playing for the Reds, Rookie Ball call up Aaron (10) had a triple and then scored a run in his first ever Mosquito Division ball game.
  • Tillie (13) of the Reds had a great game with three hits and pitched two strong innings.  Tillie also spearheaded the Red Machine’s strong third inning offensive surge with a two RBI single.
  • Harrison (8) successfully stole home base for one of his two runs of the night.
  • Reds pitcher Dylan (15) tossed a great inning in the second.

Don’t look now, but the Lizzies have all of a sudden become one of the hottest teams in TP Baseball’s Mosquito Division. 

Lizzies pitcher Curtis (12) set the tone of the proceedings early when he took the mound in the top of the first and delivered a one run, three strikeout inning. Curtis also ignited the Lizzies offense with a triple in the bottom of the first.

The Lizzies beat the Reds in a 10-9 nailbiter on a beautiful mid-summer evening on Christie Pits diamond 2. Three complete innings were played. 

 
The game ended when Fatima (14) drew a crucial third inning walk, bringing home Luke (5) to score the winning run.
 
The Lizzies have now won two in a row, and are undefeated in three. It’s been an exhilarating turnaround for the young Lizzies, who began the season with a series of defeats.
 
Curtis (12) set the tone early, when he took the mound and delivered a one run, three strikeout inning. Mark (11) and Dean (7) also pitched, and each notched two strikeouts.
 
Mark also played catcher, and recorded his first put-out of the season at the plate, tagging a sliding Reds runner just in time.
 
The Lizzies’ hitting attack came from Curtis, who blasted a first inning triple, and Luke, who hit a single later in the game.
 
The Lizzies were also sharp on the basepaths, with several stealing bases. Taylor (3) stole second and third bases early in the game, before coming home to score.
