On a beautiful summer day out in Weston, four of our players and one of our coaches from the Toronto Playgrounds Major Peewee Select team were participants in the TBA Peewee Select All Star Game.
The all star game was one of the special centennial events organized by the Toronto Baseball Association (TBA) to commemorate the 100th year of amateur baseball in the City of Toronto.
The TP Major Peewee Select players and coach who represented us at the All Star Game were:
- Simon Ball
- Alexander LeBlanc
- John Matienzo
- Jamie Nguyen
- Rob Ball [TP Major Peewee Select Head Coach]
The Sunday TBA Peewee All Star game consisted of four teams who played a four game series in a West versus East battle.
The West # 1 Team, led by TP Coach Rob Ball, and consisting of the four TP Major Peewee players, were the only team who won both of their games at the Peewee Select All Star event.
TBA Peewee Select All Star Game Scores:
- First Game: West (#1) 9 East (#2) 5
- Second Game: West (#2) 8 East (#1) 8
- Third Game: West (#2) 15 East (#2) 8
- Fourth Game: West (#1) 14 East (#2) 10
Here are the highlights:
- Simon (30) went 4 for 4 at the plate with a triple and three walks
- Jamie (28) pitched a scoreless inning pitching, had a big RBI single, and made a couple defensive gems at shortstop.
- John (27) had a triple and struck out the side to close out their first game (a 9-5 victory over East # 2).
- Alex (29) had a big hit and a made couple of great plays at third base.
And a fun time was had by all who were in attendance at the All Star festivities.
In a press release, TP Baseball President Bill Evans extended his congratulations to our four Major Peewee Select players and Coach Rob Ball for participating in the TBA Select All Star Game and for representing Toronto Playgrounds.
