TRAILING 5-0 AFTER THE FIRST INNING, A GRITTY TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS STORMS BACK WITH AUTHORITY TO GROUND THE CARDINALS AND EARN THEIR SECOND EBA SELECT VICTORY OF THE SEASON AT PELMO PARK
Game Post composed with file from John Rowe.
Beneath a layer of overcast skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Mosquito Selects defeated the Royal York (2) Cardinals 11-8 in five innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select play this evening at Pelmo Park.
Trailing 5-0 after the first inning, TP stormed back with resolve to overtake the Cardinals with a solid team effort on the road.
Living on the edge with a slender 6-5 lead in the top of the fifth, Alex (2) powered a clutch three RBI triple with the bases loaded to give the Mosquito Selects the plurality they would need to fend off the pesky Cards.
Here are some additional game highlights:
- TP catcher Jake (30) was a not only powerhouse protecting the plate, he also had the wherewithal to tag a wayfaring Cardinal baserunner at third out after a bunt attempt.
- A still injured Adi (1) managed several assists and contributed some crucial baserunning that added to the TP run tally.
The Mosquito Selects (2-3) continue their road trip when they travel to Ravina Gardens to play their next EBA Select game against the Annette A’s on Sunday, June 15 at 3:00 p.m.
