Under a beautiful cover of glorious sunny skies, the Brampton Blue Jays defeated out Toronto Playgrounds Mosquito Selects 9-5 in 4 ½ innings of play at Crookes Park early this afternoon in their first round robin game at the Mississauga Majors Tournament.

The Blue Jays took advantage of some opportunities in the first inning to jump out to an early lead over TP.

Some strong TP pitching from Aaron (18), Alden (7) and Louis (16) kept the Mosquito Selects within striking distance of the Majors.

The TP offense surged to life in the top of the fifth as they scored four to trim the deficit to four. However, Brampton eventually quashed the determined TP comeback bid and hung on for the victory.

Our Mosquito Selects (0-1) continue their trek at the Majors Tournament later this afternoon when they face the Royal York Cardinals at 4:00 p.m.
