Beneath wonderful blue and sunny skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Major Peewee Selects defeated Beaver Valley 8-2 in six innings of round robin action this afternoon at the Southwest London Major Peewee Select Tournament.

With the victory, TP finished the round robin portion of the tourney with an 1-2 record.

Here are the highlights:

  • TP starter Zack (32) pitched a scoreless bottom of the first while striking out one Beaver.
  • East Beaver takes an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
  • Major Peewee pitcher Zack subdues the East Beaver uprising by fanning one and limiting them to a run un the second.
  • TP explodes for four runs in the top of the third to take a 4-1 lead. The surge is powered by a triple from Tyler (42), a Jack K. (13) RBI single and a three RBI triple by Sasha (28).
  • In the bottom of the third, East Beaver answers with a run to trim the deficit to two.
  • Toronto Playgrounds add one to widen their advantage to 5-2 in the top of the fourth. A RBI triple by Tyler brings Max (17) homeward.
  • TP tacks on another score in the top of the fifth to stretch their lead to 6-2.
  • The Major Peewees score two insurance runs in the top of the sixth to increase their haul to 8-2.
  • TP reliever Max (17) pitches 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief while mowing down a pair of Beavers to seal the deal on the victory.

In other TP Major Peewee Select round robin action at the tournament:

  • In a Saturday morning game, the St. Catharines Cobras venomed our Major Peewee Selects 15-3 in four innings of play at the Southwest Optimists Dreamers Diamond 15.
  • On Friday evening, the Chatham Diamonds cut down Toronto Playgrounds 16-3 in 5 ½ innings of action at the Lambeth 1 Diamond.
