Beneath a blanket of warm and sunny skies, the Expos defeated the White Sox 9-3 in three innings of Bantam Division action this afternoon at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.

With the dog days of summer taking hold, it was questionable whether a game could even be played due to low player turnout. However, several players from the TP Major Peewee Rep Team kindly stepped into the breach so a game could be played with sufficient numbers. Many thanks to TP Major Peewee Rep Head Coach Rebecca Wells-Jopling for allowing her players to participate.

The White Sox jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With the bases loaded, Ami hit into a RBI fielder’s choice that allowed Baxter (3) to motor home with the first run of the proceedings. Expos starter Sasha (9) struck out two White Sox to limit them to one run during the inning.

In the bottom of the first, the Expos answered with three to take a 3-1 lead. Sasha and Zoe (14) led off the frame respectively with a single and walk to put two runners on base. Both eventually came home to roost after a series of stolen bases and wild pitches. Marcus (3) followed with a walk and came around to score after a series of wild pitches.

Making hay of four walks, the White Sox replied with a pair in the top of the second to tie the game 3-3. After back to back one out walks to David (2) and Jeremy, both would come homeward on some aggressive steals on the basepaths. Expos reliever Alex (13) would fan one to bring the White Sox uprising to a close.

The Expos replied with four in the bottom of the second to take a 7-3 lead. After a single by Sasha and a Zoe walk to lead off the inning, both would come home after some stolen bases and wild pitches.

After a Marcus walk and a single by Alex (13) put two Expos on base, Evan followed with a two RBI single that brought Marcus and Alex homeward.

Expos reliever Michael pitched a scoreless top of the third with one strikeout to keep the White Sox off the scoreboard.

The Expos would tack on two insurance runs in the bottom of the third to salt the game away. Michael led off the inning with a walk and would come around to score after a White Sox error. With two outs, Evan stroked a RBI single to plate Zoe.
