MOSQUITO > Cardinals Edge Dodgers 5-4

TIED 4-4, THE CARDS SQUEAK BY THE ARTFUL DODGERS IN THE FINAL INNING TO SEIZE THE GOLDEN EGG OF SWEET VICTORY AT CHRISTIE PITS

Game Post composed by Andrew Larsen.

It was another beautiful night for baseball as the Dodgers met the Cardinals at Christie Pits Diamond 2. The game turned out to be duel between the teams’ pitchers and runners.

The Cardinals started the night off with two quick runs in the bottom of the  first inning to take an early 2-0 lead.

In the second inning, a combination of walks and aggressive base running allowed the Dodgers to score four as PJ (2), Taris (19), Lachlan (9), and Charlie (5) crossed the plate to put the Artful Dodgers into a 4-2 lead.

The Cardinals tied things up in the second inning against the strong pitching of Dodgers reliever Devin (6) who got two strikeouts and caught an inning-ending pop fly.

The third inning was scoreless as Dodgers reliever Charlie (5) and Cardinals reliever Nigel (4) pitched strongly for their respective sides.

It all come down to the bottom half of fourth inning. With Dodgers reliever Lachlan (9) throwing some real heat, Piper (for the Cardinals) connected for a solid two-bagger before some aggressive base running saw him come home to roost and lead the Cardinals to victory.

CARDINALS GAME LOG by Aaron Law.

Thursday night saw the Cardinals at home against the Dodgers on an uncharacteristically warm evening (for this summer!).

It was tightly played game with neither team giving up many runs.

The game ended in the bottom of the fourth inning with a double turned into a home run by Piper’s (?) keen base running.

A heads up play was made by Joseph (5) to get an out in the second inning, and Owen’s (9) solid fielding at turned an extra base hit into an out at first.

A well played game by both teams!
