BY THEIR CHINNY CHIN CHIN, THE GO GO LIZZIES FEND OFF A TENACIOUS METROPOLITANS RALLY IN THE FINAL INNING TO HANG ON FOR THE THRILLING RAZOR THIN VICTORY AT BICKFORD PARK

CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG: After taking the throw from first baseman Quinn (14), Lizzies catcher Riley (11) blocks the plate and applies the tag on the sliding Dylan (4) of the Mets to complete a 6-3-2 putout in the bottom of the second for the first out of the inning at the Bickford Park South Diamond.

Beneath a blanket of sunny and humid summer skies, the Lizzies edged the Mets 8-7 in three nail biting innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at the Bickford Park South Diamond.

Trailing 4-1, the Lizzies rallied with aplomb as they sent eleven batters to the plate in the top of the third to take an 8-4 lead. After back to back singles by Quinn (14) and Louis (10) to lead off the frame, Riley (11) was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Liam (15) followed with a RBI walk to bring home Quinn and trim the deficit to two.

Taking advantage of a wild pitch by the Mets, Louis (10) slides home from third to score the Lizzies eventual winning run in the top of the third.

After a one out RBI walk by Manny (6) that plated Louis, Quinn stepped into the batter’s box and powered a clutch two out three RBI bases loaded triple that cleared the sacks and propelled the Lizzies into a 6-4 lead.

Following a walk to Louis that put a pair of Lizzies on the base paths, Quinn made a brazen grand theft of home that widened the Go Go Lizzies lead to three.

As the Mets uncorked a wild pitch, Louis pounced on the opportunity like a barracuda and blazed homeward from third in a cloud of dust to score the Lizzies seventh run of the inning.

Refusing to go aimlessly into the night, the gritty Mets made hay of six walks in the bottom of the third to cut into the Lizzies lead in a bold comeback attempt. With two outs and the bases loaded, Alden (5) took advantage of the Lizzies defense and stole home to trim the deficit to three.

After a walk to Aiden (11) reloaded the sacks, Thomas (2) patiently drew a RBI walk that brought home Leandro (15). Natalie (3) followed with a RBI walk that delivered Dylan (4) home and make it a one run game.

With the bases still juiced to the hilt and the game on the line, Lizzies closer Quinn (14) dug deep into his inner reserves to record his third strikeout of the inning to extinguish the Mets uprising and seal the deal on a hard fought win.

The game was a well played affair by two talented and well coached teams and was an entertaining proceeding right from the first pitch to the final out.

In the top of the first, the Lizzies took an early 1-0 lead. With the bases loaded, Manny stroked a RBI single that brought Louis home with the game’s opening run.

Despite loading the bases, Mets starter Dylan (4) icily pitched himself out of the mojo jojo jam with strike out.

Exercising discipline at the dish, the Mets parlayed seven walks in the bottom of the first into a 4-1 lead. Respective RBI walks drawn by Natalie, Eli (12), Alden and Veronica (1) would allow Dylan, Aiden, Thomas and Eli to come homeward bound.

Mets reliever Alden (5) would dodge a bases loaded jam in the top of the second by mowing down three Lizzies to keep them off the scoring ledger.

Lizzies reliever Louis (10) would fan a pair of Mets in the bottom of the second to keep them off the scoreboard.

During the frame, Louis was helped out by a superb 6-3-2 putout by the Lizzies defense. With one out and Dylan of the Mets standing at third, Lizzies shortstop Jude (5) fielded a hit off the bat of Thomas and threw to first baseman Quinn. However, the throw was too late to nab Thomas. At this juncture, Quinn noticed that Dylan was blazing homeward from third and made a laser throw to catcher Riley, who adroitly applied the tag on the sliding Dylan for the first out of the inning.
