The 2014 edition of the Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Tournament continues today (Saturday, September 6) with seventeen games in our respective Mosquito, Peewee, Bantam and Midget divisions.

Yes…SEVENTEEN GAMES!!! The annual end of season tournament to wrap up the season is baseball lover’s delight with a cornucopia of games from four age divisions being played over three diamonds at Christie Pits (and one game early today at Bickford Park).

Beginning today, we will also have our TP Baseball BBQ Zone operating full speed through the weekend to feed everyone attending the ‘September Madness’ festivities.

With last night’s rainstorm deluge, we will be out early this morning attempting to have the diamonds in good shape for our early games…please make sure to check the hotline (416)392-1914, website (www.tpbaseball.ca), or Twitter one hour before the scheduled start time to find out the status of the games. As mentioned earlier in the week, we will be doing whatever we can to get these games played, including playing in light rain and slightly wet conditions.

Upwards of 49 games are scheduled to be played within the next five day span of the tournament (weather permitting, of course). Despite a rainstorm that forced the postponement of two tournament games yesterday night, we still managed to play two on Friday before the deluge. With two more games in the books, there are only 34 more left to be played.

Players, Parents and Coaches are strongly advised to check your tournament schedule carefully for the dates and times of your team’s games. It is very important that we start all games at the start time listed on the schedule…please try to be at the diamond at least 15 minutes before the start time to give the coaches a chance to get the line ups organized.

Also, it is really important, given that the sun sets earlier and diamond 3 has no lights, and that we have a second game scheduled on diamond 2 each night, that players and coaches are ready to go at the time indicated on the schedule. Games scheduled for 5:45 p.m. will have to start at 5:45 p.m. regardless of how many players are present.

On days of questionable weather, Players and Parents are strongly advised to check the our Twitter feed, the Hotline [(416) 392-1914], or website if the weather is suspect for updates on the status of their games. Updates will be posted 45-60 minutes prior to the official game time.

Updated scores and standings will be posted on our website after the conclusion of play each and every night. Game Reports (when available) will be posted the next day.

Additionally, people can also keep up to date with all the scores and important news via our Twitter feed @TPbaseballnews during the tournament. One can also keep up with the scores and standings at the park by viewing our information bulletin board at Christie Pits during the week.

And on the busy weekend of the tourney when 29 games are scheduled to be played, Parents and Players can keep tabs on the tournament by visiting the TP Tournament Scoreboard at the park for the latest updated scores and standings.
