EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO OUR SATURDAY SOIREE TO CELEBRATE THE COMMENCEMENT OF ANOTHER WONDERFUL SEASON OF BASEBALL AT CHRISTIE PITS

All members of our Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball program are cordially invited to attend our fourth annual TP House League Baseball Season Opening Event on Saturday, May 14 at Christie Pits.

The Season Opening Event is held to celebrate the commencement of the 2016 Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Season at Christie Pits, Bickford Park, Art Eggleton Park, Dovercourt Park and Trinity-Bellwoods Park.

Here is the itinerary for the star studded event on May 14:

9:15 a.m.

  • Mosquito and Peewee Division players arrive for warm ups prior to clinic sessions.

9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

  • Pitching clinic on Christie Pits Diamond 2.
  • Fielding clinic on Christie Pits Diamond 3.

10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

  • Pitching clinic on Christie Pits Diamond 2.
  • Fielding clinic on Christie Pits Diamond 3.

11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

  • Author Joyce Grant will be on hand to officially launch her new children’s baseball book entitled ‘Tagged Out’. The book is great for kids who love baseball but don’t love reading. There’s lots of real-life baseball action–and best of all, it’s set in Toronto’s own Christie Pits.
  • In addition, there will an opportunity for all attendees at the event to participate in a free prize draw for copies of ‘Tagged Out’, Toronto Blue Jays tickets and some nice baseball gear [baseball bat; batting helmet and Blue Jays caps].

11:50 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.

  • Toronto City Councillor Mike Layton will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Christie Pits Diamond 2 to kick start the 2016 TP House League Baseball Season.
  • ALL participating TP players attending the Season Opening Event are encouraged to wear their uniforms so they can partake in a group photo that will be taken at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Please note that events and times are subject to change.

In addition, the TP Baseball BBQ Zone will be grillin’ and chillin’ at Christie Pits from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with hot dogs, veggie dogs and drinks available at our usual reasonable prices. We hope to see many of you out for this happy occasion.
