TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS PREVAIL OVER THE A’s AT RAVINA GARDENS TO EARN THEIR SECOND EBA SELECT VICTORY OF THE SEASON

Beneath a majestic canopy of blue and warm skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Mosquito Selects defeated the Annette A’s Minors 14-11 in six Victorian innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select play this afternoon at Ravina Gardens.

Here are the highlights:

  • On was a hot and beautiful afternoon at Ravina Gardens, TP was in for a tight game against an aggressive and well-coached Annette Minor team.
  • The TP Mosquito Selects leapt out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second, powered by a leadoff triple from Jayden.
  • After surrendering a couple of runs to the A’s in the bottom of the second, TP answered with three in the fourth to extend their lead.
  • With Toronto Playgrounds up by two heading into the bottom of the fifth, the pesky Annette Minors kept pouring it on, plating four runs, to take the lead heading into the final frame.
  • However, TP wasn’t about to roll over and rallied for five runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead.
  • TP shut the door on the gritty A’s in the bottom of the sixth to seal the deal on a hard fought 14-11 victory
Individual player highlights included:
  • A triple and a double by Jayden – huge hits that set the tone for the TP offensive attack.
  • A clutch double by Charlie in the sixth to give TP the lead over Annette.
  • On a superb defensive gem, Noah made a beautiful Gold Glove throw to catch an Annette base runner trying to steal third in the final frame.
  • Vince made a picturesque Kevin Pillar diving grab in center field, which was followed by an out at third on the A’s base runner trying to advance on the play.
  • TP pitcher Theo struck out five A’s over the final two innings.
  • It was a perfect afternoon at the dish for Solly, who contributed two singles and two walks to the TP offensive thrust.

The TP Mosquito Selects (2-0) continue their road trip next week when they venture to Rotary Park on Sunday, May 29 to face off against the Royal York Girls at 3:00 p.m.
