Beneath a blanket of hot and humid skies, the Cardinals defeated the Mets 6-4 in 3 ½ innings of Peewee Division action this evening at the Bickford Park diamond.

With the game deadlocked 4-4, the scrappy Cardinals scored two in the bottom of the third to take a 6-4 lead. After leading off the frame with a single, Alex (9) would steal second base. Perched in his nest, Alex made a brazen bid at this moment to take third. As the Mets throw to erase him at third sailed high and down the third baseline, Alex blazed homeward with the go ahead run.

Subsequently, Jordan (14) would garner a one out walk and advance to third on a pair of steals. From this launch point, Jordan would steal home with Grand Theft bravado and give the Cards an insurance run and a 6-4 advantage.

Mets reliever James (9) would strike out one and catch a screaming line drive in the third to vanquish the Red Birds insurgency.

In the top of the fourth, Cardinals closer Jordan (14) would show no mercy as he mowed down the Mets in 1-2-3 fashion on three strikeouts to seal the deal on a hard fought victory over a tough opponent.
