Beneath a picturesque canopy of blue skies, the Pelham Panthers defeated our Toronto Playgrounds Major Peewee Selects 8-4 in a seven inning semi-final game this morning at the Pelham Minor Baseball Association Tournament in Fenwick, Ontario.

With the semi-final loss, TP is eliminated from further playoff action at the tournament.

After the conclusion of round robin phase yesterday evening, TP had finished the opening round of the tournament with a 2-1 record to finish in first place in Pool A and advance to Sunday’s championship playoff rounds.

Toronto Playgrounds opened the Pelham tournament on Friday evening with a convincing 9-2 victory over the Milton Mets at Centennial Park Diamond 1.

Early yesterday afternoon, the TP Major Peewee Selects lost a 7-6 five inning heartbreaker to the Georgina Bulldogs at Centennial Park Diamond 3.

However, TP regrouped with a flourish and capped off the round robin portion of the tourney with an 15-4 blowout victory over the Waterdown Wolves at Centennial Park Diamond 3.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to thank Major Peewee Select Head Coach Bill Evans, Assistant Coaches Mike Pett and Darin Luscher for their fortitude and patience in steering these talented Major Peewee Selects through to the semi-final portion of the Pelham tournament.

The Committee also wishes to commend all the Mosquito Select players, coaches and parents for representing the core values of the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program with honour, dignity and professionalism on and off the diamond at the tournament and throughout the season.

WAY TO GO, TP!
