Under a canopy of hot and humid skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Minor Peewee Selects defeated the York Gold 14-5 in 3 ½ innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2 to earn their fourth victory of the season.

TP starter Jashan (13) would strike out two in the first to quell the York insurgency.

In response to the Gold’s initial salvo, TP would send a conga line procession of nineteen batters to the plate in the bottom of the first and take a commanding 13-1 lead that they would not relinquish.

After James (6) led off the frame with a walk and stolen base, Jude (3) would stroke a RBI single that would bring James home with the tying run.

Following a single by Lucas (47) that put two aboard, York starter Jonathan (7) picked off Jude at second to ring up the first out.

With two outs and the bases still juiced to the gills, Jackson (8) would muscle a clutch 2 RBI double that delivered Dylan and Matthew home.

With two ducks on the pond, Felix (9) followed with a 2 RBI double that cashed in Jamie and Jackson and give TP a 7-1 advantage.

After Jashan stroked a RBI single to plate Felix, James would draw a walk to put two aboard. Jude would follow with a 2 RBI single that allowed Jashan and James to come homeward bound.

With one out, TP third baseman Javert battled the glare of the setting sun to catch an eight mile high pop fly off the bat of Phillip (10) to chalk up the second out. Subsequently, with two outs and the bases loaded, centre fielder Felix would make a nice catch on a deep fly ball off the bat of Jonathan (7) to ring up the third out.

York southpaw reliever Riley (1) would strike out one in the bottom of the second to keep TP off the scoresheet.

In the top of the third, the Gold would claw back with another run to trim the margin to 13-3. With the bases loaded, Riley would deliver a sacrifice hit that allowed Jacob to come home to roost.

TP reliever Dylan (24) would strike out two in the third to extinguish the York insurrection.

TP would tack on an extra insurance run in the bottom of the third. After reaching base on a fielder’s choice, Lucas would steal second. Javert followed with a RBI sacrifice hit that allowed Lucas to come home.
