SONY DSCGame Summary edited with file from Kevin Lawrie

Beneath a layer of warm and humid midsummer skies, the Giants defeated the Cubs 12-7 in three innings of Peewee Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Here is a Giants account of the proceedings:

  • In eighteen plate appearances versus the Cubs, the Giants batting order walked thirteen times.
  • The other five appearances were three doubles, a strikeout, and an RBI groundout.
  • With all the walks, it was a slow game.
  • Alex (13) sparked the Giants attack with two doubles.
  • The Giants scored the maximum four runs in each of the three innings that were played.
  • Giants reliever Ben L (14) pitched the top half of the third. It was Ben L’s first time ever pitching, and he only gave up one run. With the score only 8-6 at the start of the inning, Ben’s effort held the Cubs back. Ben was the best pitcher of the day for both teams.
