Under a ceiling overcast and rainy skies, our Toronto Playgrounds Minor Peewee Selects journey at the 2016 Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Peewee Select Championship Tournament came to end this afternoon in Etobicoke.

Each team participating in this season’s EBA Peewee Select Championship Tournament is working under the double knockout formula, whereby a team is eliminated from the tourney once they have lost two playoff elimination games.

The TP Minor Peewee Selects had opened the tourney this morning with a 14-2 loss to the TP Major Peewee Selects in 3 ½ innings at Queensway Park.

After a rain delay at the tourney, the Royal York Cardinals defeated the TP Minor Peewees 7-0 in a five inning affair at Millwood Park

With the pair of Saturday losses, the TP Minor Peewees (0-2) are officially eliminated from further championship playoff play.

The TP Minor Peewee Selects had a fun and successful season of baseball where they finished the 2016 EBA Select Loop campaign with a 6-6 regular season record.

In addition, the TP Minor Peewee Selects had a great time at the Mississauga Majors Tournament back in June and the Greater Niagara Baseball Association Tournament in July.

The TP Baseball Committee wishes to thank Minor Peewee Select Head Coach Paul Kelly; Assistant Coaches Vincent Lynch and Michael Tutton for their fortitude and patience in steering these talented Minor Peewee Selects through the highs and lows of a fun and productive 2016 season.

The Committee also wishes to commend all the Minor Peewee Select players, coaches and parents for representing the core values of the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program with honour, dignity and professionalism on and off the diamond at the tournament and throughout the long season.

WAY TO GO, TP!
