Beneath a canopy of warm summer skies, the Giants defeated the Pirates 8-5 in 3 ½ innings of Peewee Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.

Here is a Giants summary of the proceedings:

  • This Peewee Division showdown was a rematch from June 20th game where the Giants edged the Pirates 3-2.
  • Javert (3) scored twice and held the Pirates to zero runs in the second inning.
  • Giants reliever Max (10) closed the game thanks to a bases-loaded one-out catch by centre-fielder Alex (13) in the fourth inning.
  • The Giants were assisted by Ian (12) – a call up from the Mosquito Division Lizzies – who does not play Mosquito Select, but definitely deserves a long look by next year’s MNR Peewee Select coaches – Ian walked and played great defense in the infield.
  • Giants starter Gabriel (9) pitched a solid first inning, scored two runs, and had a far triple in the second inning.
