Beneath a ceiling of genteel summer skies, the Lizzies defeated the Cubs 11-9 in four innings of Peewee Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here is a Cubs account of the proceedings:
The bats were swinging on Monday night as that Cubs hosted the Lizzies for the early game on Diamond #2.
In the end, the Lizzie’s prevailed but not before the Cubs put up a fight in bottom of the fourth, loading the bases with only one out. However, Lizzies closer Nick didn’t bend under pressure and was able to strike out the last two Cubs batters.
The fielders saw a lot of action with the number of balls put into play. In the top of the fourth, the Cubs defense held the aggressive Lizzies to only one run with good pitching by Cubs reliever Jashan (12) and solid, heads up, trickery defense by first baseman Jack (8).
The play of the game came in the fourth: It was Shamus (1) fielding a grounder at third and throwing a laser to Jack to get the out at first.
Tristan (6) contributed with a home run in the first inning, bending another bat. That’s three bats bent by the Cubs slugger this season.
