Under a tranquil ceiling of warm summer skies, the Dodgers defeated the Mets 10-4 in 3 ½ innings of Peewee Division round robin tournament action this evening at Dovercourt Park.

Here are the highlights:

  • The Mets staked themselves to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Following walks by Issac (4) and James (9) to lead off the inning, Leandro (10) delivered a 2 RBI single to bring them home.
  • In the bottom of the first, the Dodgers answered with four to take a 4-2 lead. Wahid (9), Josh (3), Lucas (2) and Nick (15) would come home to roost. Key Dodger hits: a 2 RBI double by Lucas and a RBI single by Leo (1).
  • With determination, the Mets would reply with a pair in the top half of the second to tie the proceedings 4-4. After leading off the frame with back to back walks, Teddy (12) and Matthew A. (2) would eventually come home to crow.
  • However, the Artful Dodgers would answer back with two in the bottom of the second to take a 6-4 lead. With two outs and the bases loaded, Yonah (1) would battle hard at the dish against Mets reliever Alden (13) to draw a RBI walk to bring home Cooper (7) with the go ahead run. With the bases still juiced to the gills, Wahid would take one for the team as he was hit by pitch to allow Aaron (5) to come homeward bound.
  • The Dodgers would strike out a pair in the top of the third to keep the Metropolitans off the scoreboard and in the waiting room.
  • In the bottom of the third, the Dodgers would tack on four more insurance runs to salt the game away. Lucas, Nick, Mei (6) and Elliot (13) would come home to score. Key Dodgers hits came from Nick, Elliot and Leo.
  • The Dodgers would close out the game with three strikeouts to seal the deal.
