Henderson Brewing Lends a Helping Hand to TP House League Baseball ‘Lights On 3’ Fundraising Campaign

LOCAL BREWERY TO LAUNCH NEW CHARITY BEER ON FRIDAY EVENING TO FINANCIALLY ASSIST OUR EFFORTS TO INSTALL LIGHTS AT CHRISTIE PITS DIAMOND 3

The Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Committee is proud to announce that the Henderson Brewing Company will be giving us a big league assist in our ‘Lights On 3’ fundraising campaign.

Even with a generous $150,000 donation from the Jays Care Foundation, and some additional funding from the City of Toronto, it’s up to us (as a community based not for profit entity) to raise the remaining money to finance the capital expenditures for the installation of overhead lighting standards at Christie Pits Diamond 3. With 998 players registered in our House League Baseball program in 2016, and a projected 1200 registrants in 2017, the installation of lights on Diamond 3 would allow us the opportunity to offer even more baseball to the community that we serve.

With that goal in mind, generous contributions from a local partner like Henderson Brewing are an integral piece in our ‘Lights On 3’ equation.

As such, Henderson Brewing has scheduled a release party for a new beer tomorrow (Friday, March 3) evening that will help raise money to support the TP House League Baseball ‘Lights On 3’ fundraising campaign.

Henderson Brewing will be launching Rube Goldbeer, an 8% abv Belgian-inspired strong ale named in honour of the Rube Goldberg machine (mounted behind the bar in the Henderson taproom), which will play a key role in the charity promotion.

This machine uses an overly complex number of steps to open and pour a beer. For $20, the machine is loaded with a bottle of Rube Goldbeer and set off on its 42-second operation, culminating in a glass of beer for the patron at the end of the process. For each run of the machine, $10 is donated to TP House League Baseball.

Rube Goldbeer will be officially launched tomorrow (Friday) evening at the Henderson Brewery (located at 128A Sterling Road) at 6:00 p.m. with representatives of Henderson Brewery and the Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Committee on hand to demonstrate the machine in action and share samples of the beer.

All members of our TP House League Baseball Family are welcome to join the festivities. The Henderson Tap room will be open until 10 p.m. (with last call at 9:00 p.m.).
