Volunteer Coaches Who Make a Difference On the Diamond

IN AN INITIATIVE TO ENRICH THE BASEBALL EXPERIENCE OF ALL OUR PLAYERS, TP HOUSE LEAGUE BASEBALL HOSTED A PAIR OF NATIONAL COACHES CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (NCCP) TRAINING SESSIONS ON SATURDAY FOR OUR VOLUNTEER COACHES

SECOND TO NONE > Twenty-five of our volunteer coaches had a whale of a time at the morning NCCP Initiation Clinic session held at the Alex Duff Pool Building at Christie Pits.

One of the primary strengths of our Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program are the dozens of volunteers who step up to the plate each season and generously give their valuable time and energy to coach our respective House League and Select teams.Along with parents and teachers, coaches have an immense impact on the development of our children. It is a huge responsibility as a volunteer coach to be a mentor, motivator and leader.

In that vein, the Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Committee wants to give our coaches all the necessary tools to help each and everyone of our players grow and succeed both on and off the field of play.

In a initiative to enrich the experience of all the players registered in our baseball program, we are partially financing the training of our volunteer coaches in the National Coaches Certification Program (NCCP) in conjunction with Baseball Ontario. Participating coaches paid for the online component of the training and TP House League Baseball paid for the in class sessions on Saturday at the Alex Duff Pool Building at Christie Pits.

The NCCP clinics allow our volunteer coaches to learn the fundamentals of baseball and coaching through a combination of online and in class modules. Once certified, our coaches will have all the necessary tools to train and motivate players to have a fun and successful experience on the diamond.

With the completion of the online portion of the NCCP training at home, twenty-five wide eyed and bushy tailed coaches were in attendance at the morning ‘Initiation Clinic’ sessions to complete the in class portion of the training. In addition, another twenty-three eager beaver coaches participated in the afternoon ‘Teaching and Learning’ workshops.

The TP House League Baseball Committee wishes to thank all the coaches who have taken the time from their busy schedules to participate in the NCCP clinics this weekend. It’s dedicated volunteers like you who make the Toronto Playgrounds Baseball program the jewel that it is in the community.
