TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS PREVAIL OVER THE BOMBERS IN THEIR EBA SELECT SEASON OPENER AT NEILSON PARK

Under a layer of overcast skies. the Toronto Playgrounds Minor Rookie Ball Selects defeated the Bloordale Gold Bombers 9-6 in five innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select play this evening at Neilson Park.

Here is a summary of the proceedings courtesy of Vincent Lynch:

  • TP second baseman Zachary (19) caught a pop fly to snuff out a Bloordale rally.
  • Leland (21) delivered a big RBI double in third inning and went 3 for 3 at the plate to spark the TP attack.
  • Ben (8) executed some heads up base running to get to third base and then score an insurance run to pad the TP lead in the top of the fifth frame.
  • Willy (6) made a couple quick 6-3 put outs for the TP defense in the fourth inning that led to a quick three up and three down inning for the Bombers.
  • TP catcher Qayam (21) played a solid game behind the dish.
  • Exercising discipline at the plate, Holden (25) getting on base in all three of his at bats and scored twice.

The TP Minor Rookie Ball Selects (1-0) return to the friendly confines of Christie Pits Diamond 3 next Tuesday, May 16 to play their EBA Select home opener against the Martingrove White Sox at 6:30 p.m.
