THE CARDINALS PREVAIL OVER TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS IN THEIR EBA SELECT SEASON OPENER AT QUEENSWAY SOUTH
Under a duvet of cool Spring skies, the Royal York Cardinals defeated the Toronto Playgrounds Bantam Selects 10-7 in 4 ½ innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select action this evening at Queensway South.
Here is a brief summary of the proceedings courtesy of Bill Evans:
- Putting the pedal to the metal, Royal York jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the first two frames.
- TP settled down and outscored the Cardinals 7-2 in the final three innings.
- In the top of the fifth, TP had two ducks on the pond after scoring a pair to trim the deficit to three. However, Royal York eventually closed the door on the comeback rally.
The TP Bantam Selects (0-1) return to Dominico Field at Christie Pits for their EBA Select home opener next Thursday, May 18 against York at 7:00 p.m.
