Lighting The Night Together in Support of TP House League Baseball

A FULL HOUSE AT THE ‘LIGHT THE NIGHT’ FUNDRAISER AT THE HENDERSON BREWING COMPANY SHOWED THEIR LOVE FOR THE GAME BY CONTRIBUTING NEARLY $12,000 TO OUR ‘LIGHTS ON 3’ INITATIVE TO INSTALL LIGHTING STANDARDS AT CHRISTIE PITS DIAMOND 3

It was a jammed packed soiree this evening at the Henderson Brewing Company as baseball lovers from past and present gathered together at our ‘Light The Night’ silent auction fundraising event in support of Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball’s ‘Lights On 3’ initiative to install lighting fixtures at Christie Pits Diamond 3.

A splendid time was had by one and all as attendees feted upon a delicious selection of sandwich offerings from the Caplansky’s Delicatessen Food Truck; a wide variety of locally crafted beers from Henderson Brewing; a selection of fine wine; and a cornucopia offering of snacks.

As an added bonus, the event also allowed us to wish our beloved and hard working TP House League Baseball Coordinator Steve Smith a happy 60th birthday in grand fashion.

During the three plus hour affair, attendees had an opportunity to bid upon an eclectic selection of items in the silent auction. Highlights at the auction tables: an original seat from the Montreal Forum; an introductory glider flight experience; a handmade crib quilt; and a beautiful series of art bats.

And when the dust had finally settled on the feverish bidding, close to $6000 was raised in the silent auction phase of the event. At the end of the night, a grand total of nearly $12,000 was raised for our Lights On 3 initiative.

The TP House League Baseball Committee would like to take an opportunity to everyone for their support of our Light The Night fundraising event.

We would also like to thank the all the members of our committee for their dedication and hard work in staging a very successful fundraiser. Kudos to Paul Bagnell; Reagan Maude; Carolyn Murphy and Jeff Kolyn.

Overall, this special evening not only allowed us an opportunity to raise money for a worthy cause. The event also allowed everyone in our TP Baseball Family an opportunity to chill, have some fun and renew old acquaintances in this long journey that we call life. And our love for the game of baseball is just one important aspect of that sweet journey.

Way to go, TP!!!
