THE CARDINALS PREVAIL OVER TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS IN A DUSTY AND BALMY AFFAIR AT QUEENSWAY PARK

Beneath a layer of warm and hazy skies, the Royal York Cardinals defeated the Toronto Playgrounds Minor Peewee Selects 8-6 in four innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Select action this evening at Queensway Park.

Here is a brief summary of the proceedings courtesy of Marco Bianchi:

  • It was a dusty, balmy game and the weather probably contributed to an error-prone game played by TP in a close loss to Royal York.
  • After taking an early 4-0 lead in the first, TP was only able to muster two more runs over the remainder of the game as the Cardinals pitchers found their groove and kept TP off balance and largely off the scoreboard.
  • The offensive standout for TP was Ezra, who had two hits and 2 RBIs to lead the team.
  • The defensive standout was Charlie, who pitched one inning while allowing only a single run.

With Grateful Dead fortitude, the TP Minor Peewee Selects (1-1) continue their road trip to open the 2017 EBA Select season when they travel to Ravina Gardens next Wednesday, May 24 to play against the Annette A’s at 6:15 p.m.
