THE O’s SNAP A 7-7 TIE IN THE FINAL INNING TO PREVAIL OVER THE RAYS AT BICKFORD PARK

With two outs and two baserunners aboard, Michael (3) of the Orioles delivers a clutch RBI single in the top of the fifth inning that snapped a 7-7 tie and propelled the O’s to an 8-7 Mosquito Division victory over the Rays at the Bickford Park South Diamond.

Beneath a layer of warm and overcast skies, the Orioles edged the Rays 8-7 in five innings of Mosquito Division action this evening at the Bickford Park South Diamond.

With the game knotted 7-7 in the top of the fifth, Colston (14) would draw a leadoff walk to put a runner aboard. Rays reliever Liam (7) would proceed to retire the next two batters on a strikeout and a 2-3 putout.

After Milo (11) connected for a two out single that put two ducks on the pond, Michael (3) delivered a grace under pressure RBI single that brought Colston home with the go ahead run. Rays reliever Liam would strike out the next batter to subdue the Orioles insurgency.

Orioles reliever Nikolas (2) would mow down three Rays on 3 K’s in the bottom of the fifth to close out the 8-7 victory.

With 1-2-3 finesse, Orioles reliever Nikolas (2) would strike out three in the bottom of the fifth to close out the hard fought victory over the pesky Rays.

The proceeding was an entertaining seesaw affair contested between two talented teams. In the end, the gritty O’s prevailed over the pesky Rays for the razor thin victory.

In the top of the first, the Orioles took flight and staked themselves to an early 4-0 lead. After Milo (11) led off the frame with a walk, Michael (3) would single to pit two aboard. With brazen authority, the O’s would execute a double steal where Michael would take second base and Milo would motor home with the first run of the game.

Following a single by Luke (15), Dash (7) would be hit by pitch to load the bases. Jeremy (6) would hit into a fielder’s choice that retired Dash at second, advanced Luke to third, and brought Michael home to roost.

With one out and two aboard, Nathan (8) would deliver a two RBI triple to bring Luke and Jeremy homeward.

As Rays catcher Nikhil (1) reaches for the ball, Milo (11) slides home safely with a brazen grand theft of home in the first inning to give the Rays a 1-0 lead.

In a workmanlike effort on the hill, Rays starter Jake (12) would chalk up a groundout in the first inning.

The Rays would reply with a run in the bottom of the first to trim the deficit to three. Following a one out single by Liam, Jake would muscle a two out RBI triple to deliver him home.

Orioles starter Jeremy (6) would pacify the Rays in the first on a pop up, groundout and a strikeout.

Rays reliever Jonas (13) would strike out two in the top of the second to keep the O’s off the scoring ledger and in the nest.

Jonas would also help himself out on a sweet defensive play. After a leadoff single and a pair of stolen bases, Nicolas (2) made an unabashed move to steal home. However, Jonas made a quick throw to Rays catcher Jules (3), who tagged Nicolas out for the 1-2 putout.

In the bottom of the second, the Rays would tally another run to cut the shortfall to 4-2. After a leadoff single, Jonas would swipe a pair of bases to reach third. Nikhil (1) followed with a RBI single to plate Jonas.

Orioles reliever Nicolas (2) would strike out three in the second to subdue the Rays insurgency.

Rays reliever Liam would ring up two strikeouts and a groundout in the top of the third to keep the Orioles on the ground.

The Rays would explode for four in the bottom of the third to take a 6-4 lead. Following a pair of walks by Sebastian (2) and Euan (4) to lead off the inning, Charlie C. (11) delivered a RBI single to bring Sebastian home.

With two aboard, Liam followed with a RBI single that advanced Charlie C. to second and delivered Euan home with the tying run. On the play, the O’s would commit an error that allowed Charlie C. to come home with the go ahead run and also allowed Liam to blaze homeward. Unfortunately, Liam was called out at the plate for not sliding home.

Taking advantage of a two base error by the O’s, Henry (8) slides home safely in the third frame to give the Rays a 6-4 lead,

After a one out single, Henry (8) would steal second. On the play, the Orioles defence would commit a faux pas that allowed Henry to blaze home with another run.

Not to be outdone, the Orioles answered back with three in the top of the fourth to retake the lead 7-6. Following a pair of leadoff walks by Luke and Dash that put two ducks on the pond, Jeremy hit into a RBI generating fielder’s choice that allowed Dash to move to third and Luke to come home to crow. A subsequent error by the Rays would open the portal for Dash to come home with the tying run.

With two outs, Nikolas singled and Gregory (13) walked to put two mallards on the lake. Alex (9) followed with a clutch RBI single that allowed Nikolas to come home with the go ahead run.

Rays reliever Finn (14) would chalk up a strikeout and a pair of 4-3 groundouts in the fourth to quell the O’s rebellion.

However, the Rays would rally for a run in the bottom of the fourth to deadlock the proceedings. After stroking a two out single, Jonas would steal second. Nikhil followed with a grace under pressure RBI single that delivered Jonas home with the tying run.

Orioles reliever Dash (7) ring up a strikeout and a pair of groundouts in the fourth to extinguish the Rays insurrection.

And it was at this juncture in the game where the O’s came to bat in the top of the fifth and came face to face with their moment with destiny.
