TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS CAGE THE CARDINALS AT CHRISTIE PITS TO EARN ITS ELEVENTH EBA SELECT VICTORY OF THE SEASON
Keith (21) delivers a RBI double for TP in the second inning against the Royal York Girls during an EBA Rookie Ball Select game at Christie Pits Diamond 3. In three at bats, Keith went 3 for 3 [double, two singles] at the plate versus the Cardinals with two runs scored and three RBI’s.
TP leadoff batter Momo (18) delivers a single in the first. Momo sparked the TP attack by going 4 for 4 [three singles, double] at the dish with two runs scored and two RBI’s.
After Royal York went down quietly in the top half of the first, TP jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom portion of the inning. Following a leadoff single by Momo (18), Charlie Z. (8) delivered a double that put two otters on the lake. Dylan P. (9) followed with a one out RBI single to bring Momo home with the opening run of the game. A subsequent Cardinals error would allow Charlie Z. to come homeward bound.
In the top of the second, Royal York replied with a run to trim the deficit to one. After leading off the frame with a single, Sophie (5) would blaze all the way to third on a faux pas by the TP defence. Lauren (8) would ground out to first to allow Sophie to come home with the Red Birds first run of the game.
Alejandra (22) delivers a two RBI single for Royal York in the third frame.
However, TP would unleash a nine hit fusillade in the bottom of the second and score seven runs to increase their lead to 9-1. After a leadoff single by Arlo (32), Keith (21) delivered him home with a RBI double.
With no outs and one runner on base, Milo (5) launched a RBI triple to plate Keith. Charlie C. (11) followed with a RBI single that allowed Milo to come home to crow.
Following a single by Adam (20) that put two aboard, Will (6) stroked a single to load the bases. The Cardinals defence would commit a faux pas on the play that allowed Adam to advance to third and Charlie C. to come home to roost.
With two aboard, Momo stroked a RBI single to bring Adam homeward. Charlie Z. followed lickety-splick with a RBI single to plate Will. And Duncan (14) capped off the inning with a RBI double that allowed Momo to come home and do the jitterbug.
Dylan P. (9) delivers a RBI single in the first. In three at bats, Dylan P. went 3 for 3 [two singles, triple] with two runs scored and a RBI.
With one out and two ducks on the pond, Kylie (11) launched a RBI double to score Amanda. Sophie followed with a groundout that allowed Sloane (13) to come home from third.
In the bottom of the third, TP tallied a run to widen their advantage to 10-6. After muscling a leadoff triple, Dylan P. would come all the way home on the play due to a subsequent Cardinals error.
After Royal York went down in 1-2-3 fashion in the top of the fourth, TP tallied a pair in the bottom of the frame to pump its lead to 12-6. After a leadoff single by Charlie C., Adam stroked a double that put two mallards on the lake. Will followed with a ground out that allowed Charlie C. to score from third. A subsequent Cardinals faux pas on the play would open the portal for Adam to come home with another run.
TP catcher Milo (5) tags out a sliding Alyssa (9) of the Cardinals to finish off a sweet 9-3-2 double play in the fifth inning.
In the top of the fifth, the TP defence would rise to the occasion and erase a Red Birds threat to keep them off the scoring ledger and in the nest. After a leadoff single, Alyssa advanced to second on a TP error. Emma followed with a slasher to right field. However, TP right fielder Dylan S. (10) retrieved the ball and made a lightning throw to first baseman Charlie Z. to erase Emma at first for the first out.
With a hard charging Alyssa rounding third base in a brazen bid to come homeward, Charlie Z. made a rocket toss to TP catcher Milo, who tagged out a sliding Alyssa to chalk up the 9-3-2 double play.
TP would add seven insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth to widen its lead to 19-6. After opening the inning with back to back singles by Dylan P. and Dylan S. that put two runners on base, Cooper (3) stroked a RBI single to bring Dylan P. home.
Following a single by Arlo that loaded the bases, Keith delivered a two RBI single that brought Dylan S. and Cooper home to do the watusi.
With two swans on the pond, Milo stroked a RBI single to plate Arlo. Charlie C. followed with groundout that moved Milo up a base and brought Keith homeward. With one out and a runner on base, Adam delivered a RBI single to plate Milo.
After a single by Will put two aboard, Momo launched a RBI double that allowed Adam to come homeward bound.
The TP Major Rookie Ball Selects (11-2) finish off their 2017 EBA Select regular season campaign at Christie Pits Diamond 3 next Tuesday, August 15 when they host the York Riverdogs at 6:30 p.m.
