TORONTO PLAYGROUNDS HEADS TOWARDS A CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWDOWN AGAINST THE ANNETTE BLACK AT RAVINA GARDENS

Beneath a pristine layer of gorgeous midsummer skies, the Toronto Playgrounds Minor Mosquito Selects defeated the Bloordale Bombers 14-8 in an Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Mosquito Select Tournament Semi-Final game this morning at Ravina Gardens.

With the victory, TP advances to a championship final showdown versus the undefeated Annette (Black) A’s at 12 noon. TP must defeat the A’s twice in order to procure the championship prize.

After a rough 15-1 loss to the Annette (Black) A’s on Friday evening at Ravina Gardens to open the playoff round, TP was thrust into a do or die situation to continue their journey at the tourney. [Teams participating in this year’s EBA playoffs are operating under the double knockout formula, whereby a team with two losses would be eliminated from further contention in the tournament.]

With grit and passion, TP answered the clarion call on Saturday morning with a nail biting 5-4 win over the TP Major Mosquito Selects to earn their first playoff victory. With the wind in their sails, TP defeated Royal York Girls 17-4 and the Royal York Boys 14-2 in a pair of afternoon proceedings to advance into the semi-final round.

In the semi-final showdown, TP defused the Bombers to punch a ticket into the championship final.

GO! TP! GO!
