THE CUBBIES AND EXPOS PLAY TO A DRAW IN A LIGHTNING AND RAIN SHORTENED AFFAIR AT CHRISTIE PITS
Beneath a ceiling of cloudy skies, the Cubs and Expos played to a 1-1 tie in 1 ½ innings of Toronto Playgrounds House League Baseball Peewee Division action this evening at Christie Pits Diamond 2.
Here is an Expos account of the proceedings courtesy of Richard Park:
- The Expos offence was shut down by the Cubs excellent pitching in the top half of the first.
- In the bottom of the first, Expos starter Truman (8) surrendered only one run to the Cubs. Truman was helped out by a 6-4 fielder’s choice [Anthony (10) to Daniel (11)] and two pop outs to the shortstop [Anthony].
- Down 1-0, the Expos were able to tie the game off a solo home run by Jack (2) to deep right field.
- Expos reliever Daniel (11) started pitching the bottom of the second, but the game was called due to lightning and rain after one strikeout.
