Beneath a ceiling of overcast and cloudy skies, the Toronto Playgrounds Major Peewee Selects defeated the Weston Wolverines 24-2 in three innings of Etobicoke Baseball Association (EBA) Peewee Select Loop action this evening at Pelmo Park.

Here is a brief recap of the proceedings:

  • Both TP and Weston had wait out a crazy downpour of rain and hail from under their respective dugout tarps prior to their 7 p.m. start time at Pelmo Park. For the icing on the cake, there was also a rain delay during the first half-inning of the three inning game.
  • Despite the nasty weather Mother Nature doled out, TP Major displayed some fine pitching against the Wolverines, with Jakub (11) starting, Simon (10) in relief, and Shael (5) closing. The three pitchers combined to rack up seven strikeouts and held Weston to only one hit.
  • On offence, TP was disciplined at the plate, drawing EIGHTEEN walks, and delivering some well-timed hits: Jakub hit a stand-up double to left centre field to cash in a couple of runs; Dash (27) delivered two doubles, cashing a couple runs each; Joshua (42) stroked a pair of singles; Shael, Lucas (19), and Aaron (7) chipped in with respective singles.
  • Nathan (9) showed noteworthy hustle on the bases.

After a three game road trip to begin the season, the TP Major Peewee Selects (3-0) return to the friendly confines of Christie Pits Diamond 2 next Wednesday (May 22) night for their 2019 EBA Peewee Select Loop home opener versus the Royal York Girls at 7:30 p.m.
