Toronto Playgrounds Baseball Association (TPBA) 2023 House League Baseball Division Schedules

Below you will find the information for each age division in terms of the days/times/locations for games and practices.

In the Tee Ball and Rookie Ball divisions, there is a choice of game nights, so please read the information carefully before registering.

TEE BALL (players born in 2016; 2017; 2018 and 2019)

  • For the 2023 season, we will again be offering two divisions of Tee Ball – Junior Tee Ball is for players born in 2018 and 2019, and Senior Tee Ball is for players born in 2016 and 2017.
  • For the 2023 season, we are offering both Junior and Senior Tee Ball divisions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • Junior Tee Ball games will start at 5:30 p.m. and Senior Tee Ball games will start at 6:30 p.m.
  • There won’t be scheduled team practices once the regular season starts. There will be two or three scheduled team practices during the preseason schedule.
  • All preseason practices and regular season games will take place at the Art Eggleton Park Tee Ball diamonds, which are located just south of Harbord Street between Grace Street and Montrose Avenue (beside the Montrose Public School schoolyard).
  • The preseason will run from early May (specific start date is dependent on field conditions) to Thursday, May 18.
  • The Tee Ball division regular season will commence on Tuesday, May 23.
  • The season will conclude with a Tee Ball Celebration Day event for each team in late August/early September (the precise format/date(s) will be confirmed when the regular season schedule is released in April.)

ROOKIE BALL (players born in 2014 and 2015)

For the 2023 season we will again be offering two divisions of Rookie Ball – Junior Rookie Ball is for players born in 2015 and Senior Rookie Ball is for players born in 2014.

For the 2023 season, we are offering two choices of game day for both the Junior and Senior Rookie Ball divisions. Players will register for one of the following four divisions:

  • The Junior Rookie Ball Thursday division will play every Thursday and practice every second Tuesday. Games will be every Thursday, with start times ranging from 5:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. The games will take place at Christie Pits Diamond 3 and the Bickford Park South Diamond. The regular season schedule will list where the game is each week. Tuesday practices will take place at the Bickford Park South Diamond from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 pm.
  • The Junior Rookie Ball Friday division will play every Friday and practice every second Wednesday. Games will be played every Friday at 5:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Christie Pits Diamond 3 (each team will play some games at each time). Wednesday practices will take place at Christie Pits Diamond 2 from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • The Senior Rookie Ball Monday division will play every Monday and practice every second Wednesday. Games will be played each Monday at 5:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Bickford Park South Diamond (each team will play some games at each time). Wednesday practices will take place at the Bickford South Diamond from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
  • The Senior Rookie Ball Thursday division will play every Thursday and practice every second Monday. Games will be every Thursday, with start times ranging from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at either the Bickford Park South Diamond or Christie Pits Diamond 3 (each team plays games at each diamond). Monday practices will take place at the Dovercourt Park Diamond from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

There will be evaluation sessions arranged for players registered in all Rookie Ball divisions. The purpose of these sessions is to give us as good a measure as possible of the skill level of our players, so that we can make our house league teams as fair and balanced as possible. These sessions will take place sometime in late April. Parents will receive information in mid-April as to the dates, times, and location of these sessions.

  • The preseason will run from early May (specific start date is dependent on field conditions) to Thursday, May 18. There will be two or three scheduled team practices during the preseason.
  • Weekend clinics in May and June will also be held so the Rookie Ball players can further develop their skills.
  • The Rookie Ball regular season will commence on Tuesday, May 23.
  • The Rookie Ball season will wrap up with the Rookie Ball Celebration Day event in late August/early September (the precise format/date(s) will be confirmed when the regular season schedule is released in April.)


MOSQUITO (players born in 2012 and 2013)

  • For the 2023 season, the Mosquito division is for players born in 2012 and 2013.
  • In 2023, the Mosquito division will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays. So, Mondays and Wednesdays are the days each week that Mosquito players will need to commit to in order to participate in house league.
  • As was the case last season, while there will be Mosquito house league every Monday and every Wednesday, all teams will play some games on Mondays and some games on Wednesdays (alternating each week). Practices will always be on Mondays. All teams will have a game every week and a practice every second week. So, all teams will have either a game or practice scheduled every Monday, and all teams will have a game scheduled on Wednesday the weeks they practice.
  • The teams in the Mosquito division will be divided into two groups, and each team will play all of the other teams in their group (but not teams in the other group) during the regular season. Teams from the two groups will play each other during the End-of-Season House League tournament in September (“September Madness”).
  • Games and practices in the Mosquito division will take place at a number of diamonds in the community: Christie Pits Diamonds 2 and 3, the Dovercourt Park diamond, and Trinity Diamond 2 (in Trinity-Bellwoods Park).
  • The start times for the games in the Mosquito division will range from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Start times for practices in the Mosquito division will range from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Games will run from 1.5 hours to 1.75 hours, and practices will run for 1.5 hours. The schedule will be created so that all teams will play/practice at all of those diamonds and start times during the course of the season.
  • There will be evaluation sessions arranged for players registered in the Mosquito division. The purpose of these sessions is to give us as good a measure as possible of the skill level of our players, so that we can make our house league teams as fair and balanced as possible. These sessions will take place sometime in late April. Parents will receive information in mid-April as to the dates, times, and location of these sessions.

  • For the 2023 season, the Peewee division is for players born in 2010 and 2011.
  • In 2023, the Peewee division will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the days each week that Peewee players will need to commit to in order to participate in house league.
  • As was the case last season, while there will be Peewee house league every Tuesday and also every Thursday, all teams will play some games on Tuesdays and some games on Thursdays (alternating each week). BANTAM (players born in 2008 and 2009) and VARSITY (players born in 2005; 2006 and 2007)

  • For the 2023 season, the Bantam division is for players born in 2008 and 2009, and the Varsity division is for players born in 2005, 2006, and 2007.
  • There will be one Bantam division and one Varsity division, but since there is only one available diamond with a mound there will be Bantam and Varsity games played on more than one day each week. The day on which there will always be a Bantam game and a Varsity game scheduled is Tuesday. On some weeks, the second Bantam and Varsity games will be played on Wednesday, and on other weeks the second Bantam and Varsity games will be played on Saturday afternoon.
  • On Tuesdays and on Wednesdays, the Bantam game will start at 6:00 p.m. and the Varsity game will start at 8:00 p.m.
  • On Saturdays, the games will be played in the afternoon.
  • All Bantam and Varsity games will be played at Christie Pits Diamond 1 (a.k.a. Dominico Field at Christie Pits).  
  • If there are four teams in each division, which is our expectation, each team will play once each week. If there are three teams in a division, then one team will play twice each week.
  • We will be announcing the practice times and days for the Bantam and Varsity house league divisions by the end of April. Some practices will be at Christie Pits Diamond 1, and some will be at other diamonds.
  • There will be evaluation sessions arranged for players registered in the Bantam and Varsity divisions. The purpose of these sessions is to give us as good a measure as possible of the skill level of our players, so that we can make our house league teams as fair and balanced as possible. These sessions will take place sometime in late April. Parents will receive information in mid-April as to the dates, times, and location of these sessions.
