Mosquito Day 12: Cubs edge Cardinals 10-9 to win Mosquito Championship in a nailbiter!

CUBBIES CLAW BACK FROM A SIX RUN DEFICIT AND HANG ON FOR VICTORY AGAINST STUBBORN CARDS IN A THRILLER OF A CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

2010 TP Mosquito Division Champions

Joyous Cubs raise the Mosquito Championship Trophy.

The Cubs clawed themselves back from a six-run deficit and hung on for a 10-9 victory over the stubborn Cardinals to win a thrilling TP Mosquito Division Championship game today at Diamond # 2.

The Cardinals pitchers and defense stymied the Cubs batters for two innings as the Cards offense made the most of their opportunities in building an 8-2 lead after two and a half innings of play.

However, the Cubs hibernating offense awoke in the third and fourth innings with ferocity to score eight unanswered runs and take a 10-8 lead.

In the top of the fifth, the pesky Cardinals refused to quit as they scored a run to make it a one-run game. With one out and the tying run on third base, it took a gutsy pitching perfomance from Noah (15) of the Cubs to finally retire the last two Cards on groundouts to win the championship.

Congratulations to Head Coach Ted Sharp and Assistant Coach Irene Dzerowicz for the time and energy they spent this season in guiding the Cubs to the TP Mosquito Championship.
