MOSQUITO > Day 3: Cardinals Usurp Lizzies 5-4

DOWN 4-0, THE CARDS STAGE A MIRACULOUS COMEBACK IN THE FINAL INNING TO WIN THE GAME

Bennett (14) of the Cardinals stole home in electric fashion with the winning run.

In a thrilling Mosquito Division round robin game down at Bickford South this evening, the Cardinals erased a four run deficit in the final inning to usurp the Lizzies 5-4 in four innings.

Lukas (8) of the Cardinals delivered a clutch two run double to tie the game.

The Lizzies (0-1) were leading 4-0 after three innings and were pretty much in control of the game up to that point.

In fact, the Lizzies superb pitching brigade had no hit the potent Cardinals batting order for the first three innings. Nine up and nine down!

However, the never say die Cardinals (1-0-1) stormed back like a hurricane in the top of the fourth to score five runs and take the lead.

Keying the miraculous Cardinals comeback was a clutch two run double by Lukas (8) which tied the game.

With the score knotted at 4-4, Bennett (14) of the Cardinals stole home from third base in electric fashion and scored the go ahead (and winning) run.

The Cards shut down the Lizzies in the bottom of the inning to seal the deal and the victory.
