PEEWEE > Day 4: Red Sox Edge Lizzies 9-8

Lilly (11) of the Red Sox drew a walk in the bottom of the fifth and eventually came home with the winning run.

In an exciting Peewee Division round robin game this evening at Diamond # 2, the Red Sox battled back to edge the Lizzies 9-8 in five innings.

The Lizzies (0-3) made the most of their opportunities and had jumped out to 6-1 lead after 2 ½ innings.

However, the Red Sox (1-2) battled back tooth and nail and scored four in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit to one.

A determined Lizzies squad responded with two runs in the top of the fourth to increase their lead to 8-5. But, the Red Sox rallied with three runs in their half of the fourth to tie the game 8-8.

Cooper (8) of the Red Sox pitched a scoreless top of the fifth to keep the game tied. He also recieved some superb defensive plays from his teammates (Jayden (1) on a 4-3 and Harry (9) on a double play).

In the bottom of the fifth, Lilly (11) of the Red Sox lead off with a walk and eventually came around to score the winning run when Arlo (3) drew a bases loaded walk.

Kudos to Baxter (11) of the Lizzies who pitched a scoreless second inning while striking out one.

And a kudos to Luke (7) of the Red Sox who pitched two superb innings while allowing only two runs and striking out three. His gutsy pitching effort kept the game close and allowed his team an opportunity to rally.

And another kudos to a superb 6-4-3 double play executed by the Lizzies in the fourth inning. Our hats go off to Jack (9), Pierce (6) and Eden (10) on that defensive gem.
