On a beautiful sunny day at Carmen Bush Field this morning, the Toronto Playgrounds Bantam Select team prevailed 9-7 in six innings to win their second game at the Etobicoke Baseball Association playoff tournament and advance to the “final four”.

The Bantam Selects (2-1), led by Coach Casey Irwin, will face off against Royal York 3 at 6 p.m. this evening at Carmen Bush in a fourth round game.

Here are the highlights:

  • Liam (66) pitched five stellar innings, giving up only four runs.
  • Salim (5) pitched a solid sixth inning to close out the game.
  • Giorgio (17) helped out his pitchers by providing six very good innings as catcher.
  • Third baseman Salim, Shortstop Alex (19), Second baseman Tyler (4) provided some very strong infield defense.
  • The game was highlighted by a majestic three run home run by David (18) in the fourth that gave TP an 8-4 lead that was not relinquished.
