MOSQUITO > DAY 4: Cubs Gnaw Pirates 3-1

CUBBIES EKE OUT THE WIN IN A TIGHT GAME WHERE SUPERB PITCHING WAS FRONT AND CENTRE

Josh (10) of the Cubs delivered a clutch RBI single in the fourth inning that brought Ethan (13) home with the Cubs winning run over the Pirates at Christie Pits Diamond 3.

Beneath overcast skies this evening, the Cubs topped the Pirates 3-1 in a tight 4 inning affair at Christie Pits Diamond 3 to win their first Mosquito Round Robin game of the tournament.

With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the fourth, Josh (10) of the Cubs delivered a clutch RBI single that allowed Ethan (13) to motor home from second with the go ahead run. Hayden (15) followed with a one out RBI single that brought in Josh with an insurance run.

In the bottom of the fourth, the gnarly Pirates gamely staged a rally attempt by putting two runners on base. However, with two outs and the tying run standing at second, Bucs closer Jian (4) struck out the next Cubs batter to seal the deal.

Runs came at a premium in this well pitched game by both teams. The pitchers for the Cubs and Pirates combined for seventeen strikeouts over four innings. With such efficiency, the round robin game only took one hour and twelve minutes to complete.
