TP House League Baseball Tournament Update

DESPITE A DOUR WEEKEND WEATHER FORECAST, ‘SEPTEMBER MADNESS’ ROLLS ON IN RAIN OR SHINE; TEAM LUNCH SCHEDULE ALSO RELEASED

A MESSAGE TO ALL PLAYERS, PARENTS AND COACHES:

As we move into the Friday night and weekend portion of our TP House League Baseball tournament, the weather forecast is not great. However, as previously indicated, we will be doing whatever we reasonably can to complete the remaining thirty-eight games of our tournament on time.

This means that in situations of light rain, we will play the games….it may get wet and a bit muddy (especially around home plate at Diamond 1), but unless the fields become unplayable, we will keep the games going.

If any of you have extra tarps at home that you could bring to help cover the dugouts that would be greatly appreciated. We have some… but the more, the better, and that would be great.

Players, Parents and Coaches are strongly encouraged to check the TP Hotline, our Twitter feed (@TPbaseballnews) and the website  to find out the status of your games…however, we will not be posting information until one hour before your scheduled game times, as things can and do change quickly sometimes with the weather.

This is also a reminder that in addition to the tournament games, there will be a BBQ, as all players and coaches will receive a free lunch consisting of a hot dog (veggie or meat), a juice box, and a bag of chips. Hot dogs and drinks will also be on sale for members of the public.

The schedule below sets out the times for teams to receive their food:

  •  11:00 a.m. > Dodgers, Mosquito Lizzies, Pirates, Giants
  •  11:30 a.m. > Orioles, Royals
  • 12:30 p.m. > Jays, Peewee Lizzies, Crawfords, Monarchs
  •  12:45 p.m. > Cubs, Cardinals
  •  1:00 p.m. > White Sox, Expos
  •  2:00 p.m. > A’s, Bantam Lizzies, Homesteads, Midget Lizzies

When it is the time for your team to receive their food, we’d like one or two coaches (or parents) to come to the BBQ and pick up the food and juice boxes for the entire team. This way we can avoid crowding around the BBQ and have everything distributed in the most efficient way possible. You will need to have one coach come initially to the BBQ to place the order, telling us how many veggie hot dogs and how many meat hot dogs you’d like.

So far things have been going really well….it may be a bit damp over the next couple of days but if we all try to keep a sense of humour and our patience with the elements, I’m sure we’ll continue to have a great 2012 End-of-Season Tournament!

Thanks and I’ll see you at the park for the train ride fondly known as ‘September Madness’.

sincerely,

Steve Smith
