Beneath humid skies at rain soaked Carmen Bush Field this evening, Martingrove 2 prevailed 10-0 over our TP Minor Peewee Selects in five innings of EBA West Select Loop action.

A gritty Toronto Playgrounds squad played tough and held one of the premier EBA West Loop teams to a scoreless draw for three innings.

TP starting pitcher Sasha (28) threw 3 1/3 strong innings in keeping the potent White Sox offense off the scoreboard.

The Minor Peewee Selects also received some stellar defense from Lucas (10) in the second, where he was responsible for all three outs in the inning. Lucas snared a hot line drive at second to record the first out. With a Martingrove player on base, Lucas corralled another liner and cooly stepped on the bag to complete an unassisted double play.

Martingrove took advantage of some Toronto Playgrounds defensive lapses in the fourth to score four and jump ahead 4-0.

Facing strong pitching efforts from four Martingrove pitchers, the TP offense was unable to find its rhythm during the evening’s proceedings.

Despite a nice 1 2/3 inning effort from TP reliever Angus (45), the White Sox made a feast of four defensive errors by the Minor Peewees in the fifth inning to score six runs and seal the deal.

Kudos to Arlo (7) for making two nice putouts at second and to Zack (32) for some solid defense at second base.

After a two game road trip, the Minor Peewees (1-2-1) return home to Christie Pits Diamond 2 to host York on Wednesday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m.
